Traded in Phones and ended up cancelling but ATT wont return my trade in

I signed up with ATT and was told to send my trade in phones as soon as possible. So I sent them the next day. Well I ended up having zero service at my home and had to cancel with ATT after 2 days. I called the store I got the phones from and they gave me a Trade in dept to get my phones back and when I called I was told they will not return my original phones because it is their policy. So now I have no ATT phones or service and I lost my original phones so ATT just gets to keep them. I think that is terrible and something they should tell their customers when they sign up and are planning to trade in.

You can't get your trade-ins back. AT&T does not have them.

You had 30 days to send in your trade in and 14 days to return your new phone. You should have taken advantage of the extra time, and evaluated the network before sending in your phones.

Your trade-in phones went to a third party recycler in Tennessee.

Sample of published deal (this is for the Samsung Flip4, but they all are published just like this one) online for anyone to read...

I spoke to ATT today and they will be giving me the cash value of the phones since they can not return them. I was not told about the trade in process. The representative gave me a shipping label and told me to take the phones to UPS as soon as possible. I will remember this in case I ever have to switch again.

Hopefully that's a typo, your smart label is for the postal service not UPS.

AT&T does an excellent job of publishing every single tidbit of its promotional deals online for anyone to read. It's a lot to read but it is in plain language. Verizon and T-Mobile published their deals as well, but not as completely as AT&T in fact T-Mobile's information is extremely brief.

These are legal agreements between you and the service provider and a third party recycler. Always read anything you sign.

I recently purchased a pixel 6A direct from Google with trade in. My smart label that came with my new phone in order to ship my trade in back was addressed to HYLA in Tennessee.

AT&T just scammed me out of $1,600 on their Samsung trade-in program. I fell for their trade-in offer of $800 for each of my two perfectly working Samsung Galaxy Note 9s to replace them with Samsung Ultra S22. I've followed every step of the trade-in process, received my new Ultra S22, but the trade-in status got stuck at "device received and processed" in April 2022. In August, I noticed that AT&T is happily charging me $34/month for each of the S22, so I called them. After 3 hours on the phone with various levels of support, they told me that my plan somehow did not qualify for this upgrade (theyy never mentioned this during the trade-in), and offered me to change the plan, which I did. After that, they told me that it's been too long since the trade-in, so the promotion is off, and they can maybe give me $85 per phone... that's 1/10 of the original trade-in value!!! I've asked them multiple times to make good on this, to no avail. They said there was nothing else they could do. I am closing all my AT&T lines and will never do business with this company again in my life.

I've followed every step of the trade-in process, received my new Ultra S22, but the trade-in status got stuck at "device received and processed" in April 2022.

Part of that process, is "pick or upgrade an eligible unlimited plan" .  Further on down is defines eligible plans.

Sample, as the deals have not changed requirements
