Military discount vs workplace discount

I stopped into my local AT&t store to check out some Samsung phone. The Rep i had seen my husband's ARMY sweats and asked if he served.  I told him yes, but he is not on our plan as he has a work phone he uses.  The Rep told me that didnt matter and if I did nothing else that day I should replace my workplace discount with the Military discount. I explained to him that my workplace already provides a 21% discount off my plan. He shared the Military discount is much better, I'd save money because the discount is off "everything" not just the"plan"  but I would have to switch plans to get it.

I asked him about the plan i'd have to switch to and he said it was just like the plan I already have. That I would gain nothing nor lose anything.

Now that the change is showing online, i'm questioning if that is actually the case. It appears the Military discount is 15% and is only off the "plan"

He also said something about an increase in the auto deduct credit.

Now it appears my bill will be the same as what it originally was, so now I'm questioning why the change??

What plan did you change to? If it is any of the unlimited plans, the discount is 25% off the entire bill. For some reason, online says 15% but it’s wrong. Unfortunately, though, you may not be able to keep the discount. The account owner must be the person that is eligible for the discount. If your husband is active duty or retired military, then you are eligible for the discount but if he is a non-retired veteran, only he is eligible for the discount and needs to be the account owner.

We're here to help with your current plan discount activities @Teriea.

We'd like to know the information questioned by @sandblaster as well.

  • What plan did you change to?
  • Which plan did you have prior?
  • Are you currently utilizing AutoPay?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks for responding. We were on unlimited choice multi lane .

We were switched to unlimited Starter Plan.

Yes, I've always used auto pay.

@sandblaster you might know the answer to my question as well.

@Teriea Did the unlimited starter plan qualify for the 25% military discount? I went to change a couple of my lines to this plan today and it stated the plan qualified for 25% discount but then on the next screen "Let's Overview your changes" on this page it stated the Unlimited Starter plan did NOT qualify for the discount. I happened to be on the phone with ATTHelp regarding a different issue, so I asked him and he told me the Unlimited Starter plan does not qualify for the 25% military discount. Then I started reading the terms and conditions (fine print) and under the Unlimited Starter plan info, it reads like this plan DOES qualify for the 25% discount. So I am searching the forum trying to find a concrete answer to this.  Thank you

@bairjewels Yes, Unlimited Starter qualifies for the 25% military discount. All three unlimited plans qualify for the military discount.
