Military Discount

I am female veteran with 7 yrs of Service. My year of separation was 27 years ago in 1994.  Since that time I had a name change because I married and chose the custom of taking my husband's surname. Now AT&T does not consider me eligible for the military discount because my DD214 separation form has my maiden name on it and I have no current photo ID reflecting the maiden name. In the end I had to change to a prepaid account to save some money after having AT&T as my "mobile" (began with a calling card in 1987 during USAF basic training) provider for 34 years. Is there really NO way around this nonsense?

I’m sure there is a way around it but finding the right person that can validate and apply the discount might be difficult. My suggestion would be to escalate to corporate by filing an FCC or BBB complaint. The complaint will result in someone from corporate contacting you. I’m sure they can and will resolve.

In an extreme maze of phone calls I found an answer today from the AT&T loyalty and retention department (thanks Tushana) who contacted the AT&T military division for me (first I heard of these departments after a month of phone calls and store visits). In addition to the DD214 and military ID I also need a state drivers license or state ID with a veteran indicator on it. Another 18 months till DL expires so switching to prepaid for now. Less cost than discount anyway.

@discountdenied why couldn't they use your marriage license &/or regular drivers license with form DD214 or your Military ID or heck just use all those documents to confirm? I tell ya, it seems AT&T makes receiving their discounts very difficult these days. I just went through my own military discount issues with AT&T. Sorry AT&T has made receiving their military discount such a hassle on all our present and past service men & women!
