Military Veterans Wireless, Video and Internet Discount

I purchased a cell phone on 7/25/19 because customer service told us that as a veteran I was eligible for this promotion and I would get 25% off our cell phone service, $15 off Direct Tv and $15 off Internet service for as long as we have service with AT&T - this offer didn't expire until the end of August. Offer letter from Mike Wittrock, Senior Vice President - Indirect Sales & Distribution, AT&T dated October 2, 2018. I provided a copy of the military DD214 at that time. I have continued to call every month to let them know they did not give me the discount and each time we were instructed to wait until the next month's bill. After 3 months I was told that the reason I didn't get the discount was because our bills needed to be combined into one bill and to wait for yet another billing cycle. Now they are telling me the offer has expired and they cannot honor it. This is deceptive - the offer was the reason I purchased the cell phone in the first place and it was purchased during the period the promotion was valid. Shame on AT&T for deceiving a US Veteran!!

Hello there! Let's clear up some things about what is required to get the Military Discount.

First, combined billing isn't required to get the discount. Second, you'll need to be subscribed to an eligible AT&T Unlimited plan to qualify. The Internet and TV discounts expired at the end of August '20, but the 25% Military Discount for wireless is still valid. For a full list of requirements to get the Wireless military discount, make sure to check out the See Offer Details section of our article about the Military Discount.

Once you’ve confirmed that you qualify, to get your AT&T military discount, active-duty military members can go to this website and sign up with their .mil email address. Veterans can sign up here. Veterans, military families, and active duty service members can also sign up for a discount at an AT&T retail store. In all of these cases, you’ll need to provide some proof of eligibility.

If you’d like us to go into further depth or to confirm if you qualify, just let us know and we can bring you into a direct message.

Hello,

It’s “scam”, but the post shows you had a letter from Indirect. The veterans promotion is nationwide and any corporate store will apply this same day for your 25% discount. See where your local corproate store is via att.com and bringing in your DD24 will allow a manager to apply the discount. You can also self enroll at att.com/militarysavings

Thanks for your service!

After 3 months I was told that the reason I didn't get the discount was because our bills needed to be combined into one bill and to wait for yet another billing cycle

That is not true. I do not have combined billing, my wireless, internet and Directv accounts and bills are separate. I am getting all of the discounts. The only requirement is that all accounts are in the same name and billing address. The key to getting all 3 discounts is getting the 25% discount on the wireless plan. What wireless plan did you get? It needed to be Unlimited More or Unlimited More Premium. You are correct that the internet and tv discounts expired at the end of August but the 25% discount for wireless is still valid but you must have an eligible plan. If you did have all three services and an eligible wireless plan prior to the end of August, you should still get all discounts. I recommend you escalate by filing an FCC or BBB complaint. The complaint will result in someone from corporate contacting you. If they can’t or won’t fix, no one will.

What has happened to AT&T? A company that used to be good to its customers and provide great customer service. Seems AT&T is too bid to manage its business. With all the complaints on this forum as well as Facebook, state attorney generals and the BBB need to take a look at this company. Incredible stories from customers which go unanswered. I am sure that the customer service reps are at a lost as to what to say to customers. They are going to lose customers as well as employeed. GET IT TOGETHER AT&T!!

@lee77406 there are no responses to most posts because it’s a customer populated forum and AT&T does not read the forums

-------------------INCLUDED IN EACH POST FOR CLARIFICATION______
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.
