Moving from Europe to the US

I am trying to determine if I can order prepaid SIM cards for my phones and have them shipped here to my APO address.  I want to do this so that when I arrive to BWI my family and I can swap our SIM cards and have service as soon as we arrive.  I am trying to purchase some prepaid plans but obviously I am being charged up front and I just want to know when the plan would expire?  I don’t want to pay for a plan that I wont use for a couple more months and then have to reload.  Thank you.

ATT does not ship overseas, not sure if that applies to an APO address or not. You can get prepaid SIM cards from Amazon or eBay if ATT won’t ship to an APO. As for any plan you purchase up front, it won’t start until you activate.

Thank you for the reply. I can order from ATT and ship to APO (US Address overseas). So given that it won’t start until I activate, I’ll go that route. When I look up sims on Amazon, they’re “ATT Gophone” sims and I think they’re only compatible with a gophone.

They’re unlocked iPhones, does that matter?

No.  Unlocked iPhones have more functionality when moving from carrier to carrier the an Android phone.

Hi @Eodtek29,

Thank you for reaching out. We agree with the information you earlier received on this thread by our knowledgeable forum members. That said, AT&T's old name for prepaid is GoPhone, therefore, if you have any device that is fully unlocked and able to work in the United States, then you should have no problem swapping SIM cards.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
