Lost HBO on DirecTV after adding a ,line to my ATT Unlimited Elite plan

We added a line for my kid in December, and I guess when the account went active, on the first of the year they cancelled my grandfathered "HBO for Life" agreement.  I can still access the Max app, but none of the HBO channels through DirecTV.

Thanks, but no thanks.  I tried calling, and it kept directing me to Direct TV.  When I finally got to AT&T the hour was over an hour to speak to anyone.  I went on chat while on hold and worked with an agent who resolved my Max authentication after re-adding Max to my account.  Still waiting on HBO for DirecTV though, but I don't think there's anything AT&T can do about that.

Well, 24 hours later, I also lost Max.  When I try and authenticate with the AT&T account, it says it cannot authenticate.  I logged in to Max directly via iOS, and I can see my queue, but it says I do not have a subscription.  Thanks AT&T for removing features of my plan without consent.

@Unhappy_Suscriber9999  A little confused. HBO Max is now called Max since it was spun off from AT&T about 6 months ago. The migration for the legacy AT&T accounts that had the free "HBO Max for life" promo did not go well as a lot of customers lost their logins. If you made ANY changes to your account since activating HBO Max that could be a reason why you lost access. Some AT&T customers were able to get their logins back but for how long is anybody's guess.

Keep in mind that Max is now in control of who gets access or not. If you are able to get your access back you will be downgraded to the free, Ad-free, two concurrent devices, full HD tier only. If you wanted the 4k HDR/Atmos tier (Unlimited) then you need to subscribe directly to Max and pay for it. Your original TOS states that offers and promos are "subject to change", and now that AT&T spun off Max to be its own company, that's a change. It's all up to Max now, not AT&T.
