Apple Watch SE - EDS4018

I'm trying to use my phone to manage my son's Apple Watch using the family members features on Apple Watch SE. I'm able to connect to the watch however I'm unable to setup cellular on my son's watch. AT&T always redirects to the error page EDS4018

Hi @bvinayakh

Thank you for reaching out to us today. We'll be happy to assist you.

Does your son have a user ID set up? To use NumberSync, your son will need a separate user ID and password. Please try that and see if that works for you.

He has his user id setup/configured on myatt portal + app. I'm using my phone to setup his apple watch as he does not have his own phone. I have two apple watches (mine and my kid's) watches configured on my iphone. I don't use cellular on my watch but I want to enable cellular on his watch. Every time I try to configure/enable cellular on his watch i get EDS4018 error.

Hey there @bvinayakh!

That notification you're receiving is an Emerging Device Software alert which may be related to Back-end connectivity issue due to latency. These types of occurrences are monitored and fixed proactively.

Try resolving your experience by trying again after 4 hours. Additionally, it may help to power your devices off then back on before trying again (immediately) to enable cellular on your son's watch.

We hope this info helps.

I am getting the same error. I have been on line and hold for HOURS with tech support. They had me unpair, reset all settings and content, repair multiple times. It’s showing multiple of the same new line we added under my profile on ATT and won’t connect because it thinks I have more than one cellular plan. eds4018. Now I had a call back coming from a diff department which I missed because I was still on the phone with the previous department and I hope to god they call back. This has been a complete nightmare.

How is it possible that these EDS4018 thread date back to like 2017 and I am having this exact issue in 2024? Come on AT&T - please get someone in tech support who can solve this problem and then TELL OTHER PEOPLE ON TECH SUPPORT HOW TO DO IT ALSO.

I am having the same issue with both watches we just purchased through att, EDS4018 error when we try to set up cellular.  Took it to the ATT shop and they could not fix either. I now have two brand new unusable Apple Watches.  They told me I needed to call in to see if customer support can fix it, however I already did that before I came to the store because they were unable to resolve either!  This is so crazy.  I am worried it will never be fixed at this point.
