Calls to my iPhone go to voicemail on my son’s Apple Watch

My son has an Apple Watch that has its own phone number, and it’s on my AT&T account. But calls to my phone that I don’t answer go to voicemail on his watch — there’s no indication on my phone that I ever got the call or that the caller left a message. Is there an easy fix for this?

Hey there, we're happy to provide the information to help you resolve the concern.

To answer your question, this could be happening due to the call forwarding.

We recommend you deactivate/disable the call forwarding option. In addition to that you can reset your voicemail settings on AT&T account by following the steps mentioned bellow:

Please ensure that you're in an AT&T wireless coverage area, if not you won't be able to create a new voicemail password.

  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview and open the My wireless section.
  2. Scroll to My devices & add-ons and choose the device you want to manage.
  3. Select Manage my device.
  4. Under Device options & settings, choose Reset voicemail password and follow the prompts.

You can also refer to Fix common voicemail issues for more information.

Let us know if this information helps.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums!

I reset my vmail password and made

sure forwarding is toggled OFF on the phone. But no luck. If I don’t answer a call in 4 rings, my kid’s watch starts ringing. If he doesn’t answer, the call that was meant for my phone goes to his vmail. I don’t even know if this is actually an AT&T issue or an Apple issue.

Hey @heyjohnfisher, we hear you, so let's get you the help you need!

Firstly remove your son’s number from the call forwarding option, and then Sync you're number, so that any call you get on you're phone will be forwarded on you're Apple Watch, and to do so please follow the steps below:

Remove Number Sync

  1. Go to your account overview, then open the My wireless section.
  2. Scroll to My devices & add-ons and choose your device.
  3. Select Manage my device.
  4. Choose the device you want to remove Number Sync from.

Here is the link where you will find all the details how to Add or remove Number Sync for Apple Watch

Also, use the link to Set up Number Sync for Apple Watch (GPS + Cellular)

Try this and let us know how it goes!

Thank you,
