Sounds like the eSIM got accidentally deleted or something.  You may be able to log into your account and download a replacement eSIM.

Or go into an AT&T corporate store.

Well there is the catch 22. Can not sign in to account to get a new esim since it requires verification code to be sent to my ohine. Phone can not receive messages since no esim found.  In the Philippines and no at& t stores to visit.

Even if you were able to download a new eSIM, you wouldn’t be able to activate it in the Philippines.  Your phone has to be connected to the AT&T cell network in order for the SIM to be activated.  Sound like you’ll have to wait to get back to the U.S. and go into a store.

Wow. That is crappy. ...  scuba diving for the next several months on a time schedule, so really no chance to return to the states for months 😢

Unfortunately, things like eSIM and 2FA that people think are so much better really stink when things go wrong.  I only got dragged kicking and screaming into eSIMs because Apple won’t put a physical SIM slot in US market iPhones (they do in other countries iPhones).  I would much, much rather use a physical SIM for my primary line.  And 2FA is an improvement to security until it’s tied to your phone number, and if your phone doesn’t work, you’re out of luck, especially when you get into the loop of needing your phone to work in order to get your phone to work.

Hi @Ej020263, we understand how important is to stay connected. Let's get the help you need.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check if your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. If not, connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Go to Settings > General > About and look for any numbers under EID. If there are no numbers, contact Apple Support.

Check if AT&T appears in the status bar. If not, turn on Airplane Mode and then turn it off again. Go to Settings > Cellular and check if the number you’re trying to activate is shown. If it is, turn off the line and then turn it back on again.

Restart your device.

Let us know if this helps. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have further questions.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community & Forums,

Susan, AT&T Community Specialist
