Iwatch help
I added a new line, which was a new Iwatch. I bought it for my husband who has service through metro. Will he be able to use the watch without being on AT&T cell service? I was only given the option for unlimited for wearable which I don’t even understand that. I just want to know if my husband will be able to use the watch

Not with numbersync. Numbersync only works if his iPhone is on your AT&T account as well.
It will work the same as the non-cellular watch, though. But without numbersync there's no real point in service on the watch.

Just to be clear I have an I watch, he bought for me last year through apple. I wanted to return the favor this year but couldn't afford the one through apple so I went through att which required me to set up a new line.

Just panicking because I just placed the order and didn't even think about it until after I placed it. And before I cancel it I want to make sure he can use it. He has an iPhone through Metro. I switched to att

In order to use the watch as a companion device with cellular service you have to be able to sync the watch with a software program called NumberSync. Numbersync cannot work between an AT&T watch, and a T-Mobile phone.
When you purchase an Apple watch from a service provider using installments, you are required to pay for service which will be $10 plus taxes, which will be equivalent to what you pay for taxes on your phone. Depending on which watch you have purchased that nearly doubles the cost. It just spreads it out over 3 years.
He can't add the watch to his Metro service without paying the additional $10 a month plus taxes which means you will both be paying $10 a month plus taxes for service on a watch that you are paying for the watch and he's paying for the service.
Not a great gift 😑
You should have saved your money all year so that you could return the favor with a Bluetooth from Apple.

@smtm_7788 Keep in mind that AT&T is in the business of selling cellular services. If you purchase a device with cellular capability, like an Apple Watch, they will automatically add a line (basically as a placeholder), at a cost of $10 per month plus taxes, to use the watch with cellular services.
As mentioned by @formerlyknownas , you would have been better off to purchase the watch directly from Apple. If you choose to not use the cellular option you can just tether the watch to your cell phone. That's what I do. I have the GPS only watch so as long as I'm within range of my iPhone, I can use the watch to make/receive calls, etc because they go thru my iPhone. If I'm out and about, 99% of the time I have my phone with me in my pocket so my watch works just fine for that. Even if you purchase the Apple Watch with the cellular option, you are not obligated to activate that.
I would never purchase anything from AT&T, or any carrier for that matter, other than a cell phone. In fact, I'd never purchase a cell phone from a carrier either. Too many caveats and gotchas.
