Adding to Unlimited Data Plan

Question

Hey guys. I have a question about adding on to Unlimited Data plans. I have a shared plan with my parents (the 3 of us) and they want to try out smartphones soon, but they will need data. At the moment I'm the only one with data. Is there a way I can add data to their plans while keeping unlimited data on my phone? Is it possible to also add texting on my line too without losing unlimited data? Thank you.

When you say shared plan, it's not a mobile share value plan, right? Unlimited data plans don't exist anymore. People that originally had them before AT&T got rid of them, still have them, but people that want one now can't get one. You can get a shared data plan, which is a set amount of data that family and/or friends can share and the data resets each new billing cycle. It also comes with unlimited talk and text. Plus it gives everyone on the plan a line discount, so instead of $40 a line, it's $25, unless you get 10GB of shared data or more, then it's $15 a line. The only problem is that if anyone ever wants to upgrade phones, they will be pulled into NEXT, which is installment payments or they have to buy the phone at full price up front. The mobile share plan isn't a 2 year contract, that's why. As for adding text, you should be able to without losing your unlimited data. Try going to 'add or change a service.' The bad part about all of it is that if you change your plan, you can't go back to unlimited. It sounds like you've got a Family Talk plan. If so, yes you can add data to your parents lines. Your choices are 300mb for $20/mo or 3gb for $30 mo. There is no shared data on Family Talk so each line must have its own data plan. Also, yes you can add texting to your line for $20/mo or a family text plan (covers all 3 lines) for $30/mo. None of these options effect your unlimited data.

I'm one of those customers who had the unlimited data plan and was told I could keep it. But they're not really unlimited. I get one f these messages EVERY month: The old unlimited data plans are not even really unlimited.

I have no idea what MYCSP is, but as far as I know, when your data speeds are reduced and my phone loads NOTHING, this should not be called unlimited data plan.

Right you are, ATT needs to get with the 21th centrury. Much like there ads with tout 99% of the country is covered. Yea right!

5 gigs of data is nothing anymore, time for someone at ATT to look at a calandar and see it's now 2014 not 1990 anymore. 500 meg programs are nothing anymore. Stop being so greedy ATT and get a network that can handle some speeds.

Stop being so greedy ATT and get a network that can handle some speeds. Well, if the AT&T customers would stop being so greedy and trying to use 10+GB of data while only paying $30 (the equivalent fo 3GB service) then maybe AT&T would have the resoueces to put more into infrastructure.  I'm currently on a 10GB Mobile Share plan, and my wife generally uses 6+GB of that every month with no slow downs or performance issues.  I guess you get what you are willing to pay for.
