My mom bought a Samsung A14 phone and it's brand new still in the straight talk green box,can she use it to go onto At&t plan??

If it's says straight talk on the box and it's brand new, it will not work on AT&T it is locked to straight talk and probably has to be used on straight talk for 12 months before straight talk will unlock it. Since straight talk is now owned by Verizon, it may not even be AT&T compatible
Sorry I disagree entirely with the response by ATT help.

Yes, you can bring in your own device and choose a wireless plan but the device as to be compatible and supported by AT&T network. Here is the list of devices which are tested and approved for the AT&T network. Also, you can review Bring Your Own Device in detail here.
