AT&T SUPPORT LINE SPOOFED

Recently, oh I would say maybe a month ago my phone got spoofed by a very familiar number....AT&T suppport number. I dont know how or why because AT&T refuses to tell me after numerous complaints and it has been going on for over a month...and still going strong! If you get a call from their support number it may or may not be AT&T. My question is had anyone ever been helped in regards to my phone calling itself randomly, friends, family, and whoever else your not aware of until you find out from people you never called? After being passed around from department to department no one at AT&T even knew about countless victims identities, accounts, phone records, etc. Can anyone shine a light on this matter and tell me why AT&T continues to ignore this massive breach in its carrier service?

Number spoofing is a big problem and is very annoying. Unfortunately, there is nothing AT&T can do about it. AT&T has no control over what number spoofers do.

It is up to the consumer to be vigilant and follow basic scam protection advice, such as don't give personal information to someone who calls you or if you get a call from a business, take down the information and then call the business directly to confirm the reason for the call.

ATT is not ignoring anything. As noted above, caller id spoofing is a problem for the entire telephone industry and there is nothing any telephone carrier can do about it. Certainly you aren’t thinking those calls people receive from your number are actually from your phone, do you? The callers are spoofing your number too. Most of those spoofed calls are robo calls, i.e. calls placed by a computer and most of them originate from outside the US. What they are doing is illegal but there is no way to stop it or to stop them, at least not yet. If you have postpaid service, give the Call Protect app a try. It does not eliminate all robo calls but it does help cut them down. Unfortunately, it won’t stop the callers from spoofing your number.
