BE AWARE : AT&T Customer Service bad treatment and information on BOGO Promotion IS TOTALLY SCAM!!

I went to one of AT&T stores in my area last year, they told me about a deal under the next plan where I wont be " Locked with a contract for 2 years " and the tarms are Buy one phone and get the other phone for free.
I bought the deal, Since then my bill for the 2 phones is above a $150 every month. I paid in one month $398.
I am not happy with how my bill is too high, i thought its because of me awing money on phones.
I called in and spoke with the representative and she told me clearly " If I pay off the outstanding amount for one phone I will be able to unlock both phones since its buy one get the second free. I paid the full amount and she tried to help me unlock both phones. I stressed my concern about unlocking those phones multiple times, she went and confirmed and based on that i paid off my full amount , then she tried to unlock both phones but the system didnt allow that since its has to wait 24 hours. she told me to call back to unlock those phones after 24 hours.

I called the next day, they told me I have to pay another $500 for the phone, I mentioned to them want happend the previous day. and its a promotion I purchased, they told me they cant do it. I requestd a supervisor, she was so rude and unrespectful at all, she told me the assciate I spoke to wasnt from their company. I told her how i paid this money then, she tried to say that oh, it wasnt her department. --> they directed me to a manager in different department that cant help me with the Issue?????!!!!!!! REALLY AT&T ????!!!!!!

I been doing business with this company for over 4 years.!!!

I requested them to go back to the recording, they said we cant garantee it???
who i can reach out to in order to get help with this isse?

Hello @khaledSaleh,

I know the importance of getting your device’s unlocked. It’s convenient if you’re looking to use another carrier’s SIM card or travel outside the United States. I can understand the concern when attempting to complete this, and receiving a denial. I would be delighted to assist you with this matter!

It’s great to hear you took advantage of our Buy One, Get One promotion! I know these deals can get a little confusing. How the offer works is both devices are technically purchased on an AT&T Next Installment plan. The Get One line, however, starts to receive bill credits for the monthly payment after 2-3 billing cycles. In order to continue receiving the credits, the line must stay active and in good standing for the lifetime of the Installment plan. If the need to unlock the phone arises, the remaining balance on the Next plan will need to be paid off, as this is a requirement to unlock any phone on AT&T’s network.

The device you paid off should be eligible for unlock as long as the account balance is current, the device is not reported lost or stolen, or active on another line. You can complete a device unlock request online at att.com/deviceunlock if you choose to accelerate the Installment plan on your Get One line. This can be completed in store or via your myAT&T account.

I hope this clears up any information! It was a pleasure helping out. Have a wonderful day!

Today is July 7, 2017 it was the worst experience ever with AT&T ever since I signed up for year and A half ago with DirecTV through AT&T when they came to install DirecTV at my house .The technician stole the DVDs cords from all four of my TVs I've been on the phone constantly over charges on my bill disconnected my service for no reason when I paid on time,  their Internet stopped working for three months the box did not work and I kept telling him that I didn't have Internet service but I was still getting charged. I've had AT&T since it was southwestern bell,   I have never been so angry so disappointed so Frustrated !!  I have been on the phone with   DirecTV almost every month trying to fix a bill I trying to fix my boxes are the Internet is been down I live in the middle of the city so it's not like a little far in the country ..  I do not recommend anybody get DirecTV is the worst service I have ever had in my life.  I spend more time talking to customer service  on the phone more than I even talk to my husband .

I agree with you! All my phone time has been used up on speaking with different reps and departments and they all lied. At least they responded to your post. Have you been able to speak to the right person/department?

After I settle this issue I am also having with AT&T and their scammy practices, I will be leaving this company's services for good after 10 years. How sad and shameful their practices have become! I have called about not getting the credits from my S7 BOGO offer in Dec and so far I've had false promises, outright lies, and reps hang up on me. And YES I have fulfilled ALL requirements. I double, triple, quadruple checked!!!! I was told the rep would email the details of my credit for 8 months of installments I made and SHOULD HAVE been reimbursed all along. Then another rep tells me " we don't do that." AT&T has reached new heights for lies in their false advertisement and marketing schemes. SHAME ON YOU.[Per Guidelines:  Keep it Relevant and Appropriate]. That's my opinion. Bad business. Never again.

@5fiftyinmaine

There was a regular BOGO for one week in December, (12/16 to 12/24) requiring only a new line for the free phone.

If you did not buy both phones during that week, the BOGO offer required you port in a line from a competing carrier AND have TV service with ATT to get a free phone.

https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1123428

So the questions are:

1.   did you buy during that one week where you could add a line for the BOGO?

2.   Or at another time with TV service, and what carrier did you port from?

YES i am agreed that ATT customer service are big liars starting with their supervisor, they sold me a galaxy S8 with the BOGO plan ( buy one and get one free), and after they gave so many excuses to give me back the $75 for the first 3 months, after almost 6 months waiting they began to tell me that they were sorry but the code for the deal was enter wrong in the system and they could not do anything about it, the BOGO plan is a BIG SCAM!!!!! All my friend's are switching to T Mobile and I'm thinking of doing the same.

I too have gone through a very similar experience with  ATT Wireless.  specifically ATT Wireless  [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information]
Cary, North Carolina 27519.  I had been a  Verizon customer for 20 years. Switched to ATT Wireless for BOGO offer. Promised monthly cost ( in writing) was significantly lower. Also, ATT will cover costs of Verizon cancelation fees. The end result was my monthly bills are approx $100. more /month and only a fraction of cancellation fees were paid. Made several trips back to the store and was promised it would be corrected. It's been 5 months now and nothing has been done. I would stay clear of ATT and especially this store.    I have been told that the reps at the store have called ATT and that I would receive a call back regarding corrections.   I went back to the store several times to check on the status of my complaint but it still has not been resolved.  ATT ....YOUR PRACTICES ARE DISGRACEFUL

I have been with AT&T for well over 10 years now! I went in to a local store on 9/30/17 to upgrade one phone and was told that they were having a BOGO. My 14 yo wanted a phone, so I thought what the heck, I will take advantage of it. I was told specifically that if I upgrade the existing device, I will get a free iPhone 7 after making 3 monthly installments. Well, here I am 4 months later and still paying on a Next installment. Contacted AT&T and was told : "Upon carefully checking on your account, it shows here under the BOGO offer that when you order new TV they are eligible to upgrade two devices without adding a new line of service (Upgrade + Upgrade)." This is not what I was told. I already have Direct TV and they knew that! Also "Upon double checking here on the account, there's no notes here in our records that you are eligible for the BOGO offer." LIES!!! So disheartening, since I love AT&T. I will definitely reconsider continuing services with them after this incident!
