Yes, you can keep your number. However, AT&T doesn't like to make it easy. Up until December of 2023. You just had to go to a corporate store and they would migrate your number. Supposedly at the end of December the process was changed and you're supposed to just call AT&T and they'll migrate your number without changing your SIM card.
But darned if you can get either the store or customer support on the phone to agree that their method is the correct one and they'll send you bouncing back and forth between the store and calling AT&T.
Start with AT&T store. If the store says you have to do it by calling CS, then ask them to assist you while you are in the store to do so. Because you're not going to be bounced back and forth
