What happens to account and phone records after the account has been closed?

I have paid in full to close my AT&T account not long ago. I need to obtain some phone records/calls/texts made in previous year. Am I able to retrieve my phone records even if I closed down my account?

As @Gary L there is a charge to get the records. The first month requested was previously free with $5 per additional month requested, but I'm not sure if the pricing has changed.

You can call AT&T customer care at 800-331-0500 to get the request submitted as well.

Depending upon if the records you're requesting are from the current billing system or a previous billing system (a converted or merged customer from another company or the pre-Cingular/AT&T merger days) it can take a little longer as a backoffice case has to be submitted for those. For ones in the current billing system, the CSR should be able to submit the request.

It would be helpful if you had your account number, especially if your phone number has been reassigned to someone else (if you didn't port it out) as it makes it easier to find your account. But looking it up by your SSN is also possible. And in the worst case, your phone number and name would work too.

You can go to a corporate store and they can do it for you.

There is a charge, I think it's $5 a month (I think it's $5).

This won't get you copies of the texts, just date and time to a specific number.

If they are your records, you don't need a court order. You just need to ask for them. Call AT&T

I need 2022 and they say they can’t go back that far without a court order

Okay, this is your account? Postpaid?

If yes and yes, then that is not true. They can mail you up to 7 years in arrears if you had a postpaid account and can prove ownership.

You just talked to the wrong drone. Call back. There is a $5 charge per Bill reprint. If you need usage detail you have to ask for Bill reprint with usage detail.

If you are asking for something other than a copy of old cellular bills with usage detail, please say so?

If you were prepaid, there is  nothing.   Prepaid records are not saved older than 6 months.  And prepaid accounts that are canceled have no record whatsoever
