Where are my Visa Rewards Cards?

When I had my Directv services installed on 8/7/2017, two individuals showed up from AT&T as well. They stated they were part of a new team that helps customers bundle services. They were offering this fantastic deal on wireless service. I would get unlimited service, new Samsung 8 Plus for each line, a new tablet for a $1, $25 off my Directv bill and the big one: $650 rewards card for each phone switched. So that is a total of $1950. I followed all of the instructions to switch, however, I had to only deal with them. It has been a nightmare with this switch. Let me detail in bullet points:

1. They billed me $125 in activation fees they never told me about. Got that credited.

2. They screwed up my first two bills and all of a sudden I was past due $84. Got that credited.

3. Here it is three billing cycles and no $25 credit on Directv.

4. I turned over everything from Verizon regarding my last bill to them on September 13, 2017. Guess when they uploaded the statement? October 23, 2017. Nice!!!

And yes, you guessed it. AT&T rejected the submission of my last bill. I texted the representative I am working with. She stated she would have to resubmit for a different value for each card since I did not have a contract with Verizon only device payments for the three phones I switched over. I asked how much the rewards cards would be. Got nothing but "crickets"!

5. 12 weeks later, still no rewards cards. Still hearing "crickets"!

6. Today, I get a lovely call from a debt collector regarding my past due Verizon bill. This wouldn't have happened if the cards were sent just like the representative promised.

7. In 30 days my Verizon account will be marked as a judgement on my credit report.

At this point, I am considering this fraud. And on November 7, 2017 if this is not resolved, I am turning this over to the Attorney General's office here in Arizona and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. You cannot put in writing to promise reimbursement for switching and not provide it. If I can pay my AT&T and Directv bill every month, AT&T should be able to honor their end of the deal.

Thanks AT&T, you just made my year!

From what I can see on this Forum, this is a common practice with AT&T. I have filed a complaint with BBB

and depending on the response from them, I will move forward with filing an official complaint with the Attorney

General's office.

I am still working with the corporate office to resolve this issue. I will post the final resolution here and how to get them to contact you if you are having problems that are not being dealt with in a timely manner.

@divaluca It's not $650 for switching. It's UP TO $650 for reimbursement for your phone costs (if you owed $50 for your phones, you only get $50).

4) As you had no phone costs, there is nothing to reimburse. I doubt you will be seeing anything for the switcher offer (sorry).

3) I'd think you'd have the $25 TV credits by now (these show up on your TV bill, not your phone bill).

From what I can see on this Forum, this is a common practice with AT&T.

I don't recall hearing of reps showing up during installation before.

What's really common practice with customers is signing up for offers without reading them nor getting copies of the offer for future reference.

5, 6, 7) That's not how it works, sorry http://att.com/switch

The switcher offer requires that you turn in your phones, did you do that? Did you get anything for those phones? (That's considered part of the "up to" but should have resulted in something)

@Gary L....

The sales reps that came to my house never said up to $650. They claimed $650 period per switched line.

There were phone costs...quite a bit actually. But getting them to hold up their end is what I am having a problem with.

I understand the $25 credit shows up on my Directv bill. It was something that was promised if I bundled with AT&T Wireless

and was also stated on the AT&T site when I was reinstated. I have escalated this part of the issue with Directv.

The new program was something AT&T was doing to get more customers to switch to their wireless program. Two sales representatives

show up and talk to you about bundling with other products. They pushed the wireless plan. And I already went over the document

issue with corporate. They know the sales reps never gave me a hard copy nor emailed it to me. In my case, sales made promises

that were not realistic that is why I opened a BBB complaint.

The phones were turned over to the the sales representatives. But again, they never stated the Visa Rewards Cards were contingent

upon the value of the phones only what was owed to Verizon for equipment charges including Early Termination Fees. Let's just say

sales decided to say what was necessary to get me to switch.

Trust me, I covered all my bases, asked tons of questions and documented everything. I can assure you, if I had gotten that document

detailing out the entire "switch" as corporate told me it should have went, I would NEVER have switched. It's not worth the time or money.

I am not saving much from when I had Verizon.

I do appreciate you responding to my post.

@divaluca Your story is a bit unique with them showing up.

Please give us an update and let us know what you were successful in getting taken care of so that we can make suggestions to others in the future.

Today, I received a follow up call from the representative from the corporate office. They are not giving me the $25 per month credit on my Directv bill because I was not signed up for the correct wireless plan. I am on Unlimited Choice and need to be on Unlimited Plus which is $30 more per month. In addition, they are only giving me 50% of the Verizon bill in Visa Rewards cards. They stated all other issues are being handled internally. I have officially opened a complaint with the Attorney General's office here in Arizona. I urge everyone who is in the same boat to do the same. If we all stand up to AT&T they will be forced to honor vebal and written agreements for ANY promotion. It is the only way they will stop. Unfortunately, I am not going to get any further detailed since this is now become a legal matter.

That's been pretty clearly stated on-line. So for (net) $5 more you can get the much faster account and have tethering for your devices with HD video. Seems worth it to me.

In addition, they are only giving me 50% of the Verizon bill in Visa Rewards cards.

They shouldn't be paying your bill, only the outstanding costs of the phones.

How much did they give you when you turned your phones in?

How much did they give you when you turned in your bill?

How much did you owe Verizon for PHONEs?

Virginia,

Make sure your sales representative that assisted you gave you all the information you needed to submit documents to get approved for the Visa Cards. You are better off calling the office speaking to a manager than posting on here. If this drags out, you can also open a complaint with BBB like I did to get this resolved. Good luck.
