ASUS ZenWifi ET12 with ATT Fiber upgrade not going well
I'm trying to improve my internet speed and reach by upgrading my router with the ASUS Wireless ZenWifi ET12 Mesh system. I currently have ATT Fiber with a 2 GIG connection but I'm mostly in the 150-250 Mbps range. I have done the following and have got an internet connection but the speeds are slower than my current ATT connection.
Here are the steps I have taken so far:
1) Connected the Gateway to the ASUS Router
2) IP Passthrough Steps (have on "Manual" and entered MAC address"
3) Turned OFF Packets
4) Turned Off Firewall
5) I am a bit hesitant to turn off the WIFI as I did this before and I had no Internet in the house and had to call ATT to restore as the new network had no juice.
6) Do I name the new WIFI network the same as the one I have (same SSID and password)? (I know this sounds dumb)
What are the many things I am doing wrong? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

OK that's the basic speed of your Fiber connection. So a good baseline. Do you have any Ethernet devices; PC, Mac, laptop that can be used for tests?
Next you need to connect your ASUS Wireless ZenWifi ET12 Mesh system to Port 1 on the BGW320 (Blue port)
On the IP/Passthrough page on the BGW320 you want to select DHCPS/Fixed (Not Manual) and select your ASUS's MAC from the pull down menu. Turn off your ASUS.
Now restart your BGW320 using this link: http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bin/restart.ha and wait for the White LED to stay solid. Now turn on your ASUS.
For basic testing on your ASUS I would use a different Wi-Fi SSID until you have your ASUS configuration setup.

Well initially your (2) Wi-Fi networks are causing interference with each other. Where is your BGW320 in relation to your ASUS? Try to separate them as much as possible using the Ethernet cable connection between the (2) routers.
Now you need to reduce the power of the Wi-Fi radios on your BGW320. You want the Advanced Options settings. Here is the link: http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bin/wconfig.ha
It is initially set a 100% so while testing reduce it to 20%.
Note: you are never going to get 2 Gbps on Wi-Fi for a single device

You should expect the same speeds upstairs as downstairs on your MacBook Pro or maybe even a little better if that ASUS Wireless ZenWifi ET12 unit is out in the open and not in a closet.

Stop here. If you don't resolve this speed issue at your BGW320 there is no need to add the ASUS to the mix. Where are you seeing this 150-250 Mbps range? Is this on a Wi-Fi device or Ethernet device or both?
What speeds do you get on the internal BGW320 Speed Test: http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bin/speed.ha

Hi. This is the speed before adding ASUS to the mix (on the BGW320).

Again is your speed range of 150-250 Mbps speed on a Wi-Fi device or Ethernet device? What does a Speed test run on your BGW320 using it's internal speed test within the AT&T Network?
If you can't get higher speeds on your device when connected directly to the BGW320 then your ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 is always going to be less.

I can't get speeds anywhere close like this on the ASUS router.

Thank you. I can connect to the internet via ASUS but the speed and connection is weak. It takes a long time for a page to load.

Hi Dave,
This seems to have really helped. I did a speed test via Ookla on the first floor a few times and is around 650 Mbps download and 410Mbps upload (for my laptop). I'm assuming the WiFi interference was a significant factor. I'm assuming these are very good speeds for a household.
