AT&T Gigapower - Significantly Slower WiFi vs LAN speeds
I just got AT&T Gigapower (1 Gbps) installed and have run across a baffling situation.
I have the Pace 5268ac Gateway and an Asus RT-3100AC router. On both devices, I get LAN speeds of 600+ Mbps up and down. On Wifi, BOTH devices (tested independantly of each other) test out at no more than 150 Mbps up and down. I have used multiple 802.11AC devices to test the 2.4 and 5Ghz radios and get the same baffling results. I tested the ethernet/LAN the speed of the Asus router and it has no issue receiving 600+ Mbps from the Pace gateway. I have tried testing the AT&T gateway separately with my Asus router not connected and off. I have tried disabling WiFi on the gateway and solely using the Asus router for everything. Nothing changes.
I am testing this within 10 feet of the router in an open room. I have heatmapped my house for WiFi interference and currently only have 3 devices connected to the routers. I have no idea why the bandwidth dips so much when these devices (especially the RT-3100) are capable of much higher WiFi speeds. Any suggestions?

@BrownCoat Just read one report online and they figured if everything's OK, should be getting about 250M on ac. This meaing no wi-fi interference or from electrical system, CFL bulb, audio equip, etc. So in real life, I'd say 150M is doing pretty good.

I had Time Warner Cable before this and could get within 95% of 300 Mbps at all times. My router is capable of transmitting 5 GHz data rates up to 2167 Mbps and 2.4 GHz up to 1000 Mbps. 150 is not normal. As I said before, I heat mapped my house to determine coverage and wifi intereference. There should be nothing preventing the bandwidth from going over 150 Mbps.

I'll run the InSSIDer program and to double check channel overlap but I do not think this is the problem.

There is no channel overlap. I have a very strong signal in 95% of my house.

I am thinking that AT&T dosn't like you to use a router behind a router and throutle because of that.
