BGW210 Solid Red Light Broadband Router

I was messing around with the router because the Ethernet cable was being caught around the corner of my table. After I unplugged it and plugged it back in, the broadband light went a solid red and now I have no internet. I have unplugged it and pushed the red button on the back for 20 seconds and it still remains the same. I have also tried to plug the Ethernet into different slots but nothing is working.

Check the wall/street connection.  It should plug into the green RJ11 broadband socket on the gateway, or for fiber, the red ONT RJ45 socket on the gateway.  Don't worry about your etherent connections that plug into the yellow sockets until you get rid of that red broadband light.  That usually indicates something is wrong with your outside circuit or the gateway's connection to it.  It may also mean something is wrong with the gateway but the probability of that is much lower than a street connection failure.

I only have an Ethernet cable and power cable, but again, this problem happened after the Ethernet cable was unplugged, so I'm not sure what else could have caused it

I only have an Ethernet cable and power cable

You got to have more than just that.  Power cable, ok, to your gateway.  Ethernet cable, ok, I assume it's whatever device you want to connect as an internet connection or could be to the dvr (I also assume it's to one of the 4 yellow ethernet ports).  So where's your outside (street) connection?  The one I described?  It should be connected to a wall plate presumably.

I am actually having the same problem... I also only have a power cable and a yellow ethernet cable. I looked at the wall plate which has a cover on it. I took off the cover since I was running out of ideas. The wall plate only has two things coming out of it. Power for the plate and a single yellow ethernet cable for the router. I have a separate power cable for the router that I have plugged into a surge protector. There is an alt optic or PON thing in the wall plate that doesn't come out but attaches to something inside the plate. The internal wire seems secure and I don't want to touch it too much.

My mom was helping clean my room since I had a lot of work to do today. In the process of helping me she unplugged all the electronics. I have been tasked with putting everything back together and getting the internet working. I don't know what to try next besides looking up stuff on the internet through my phone data.

Let's get your internet service reconnected, @Jess4Internet.

In order to reconnect your internet, you should have a green Ethernet cable that plugs into the modem from the wall jack. This is somewhat dependent on what modem you have, however this self installation guide may be of use. For further assistance, you can also view this video for a more comprehensive tutorial on how to properly connect your modem.

The yellow cable on the other hand is meant to provide an Ethernet connection from your modem to a device of your choosing that you wish to establish an internet connection with.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, and we'll be more than happy to help.

Thank you, Jarod. I ended up calling 800-288-2020 at the end of the self installation guide because I was still confused. I did what the guide recommended and asked for technical support. Then, I answered the following questions.

I was connected to Rosalyn and she was able to help me, hurray! But, I thought I would give you an update on what happened. Also, thanks for responding to me so quickly even though this question was originally posted 4 years ago.

After a lot of professional questions from Rosalyn, we found out that the yellow cord coming out of my wall plate can be connected to the red ONT port on the router. A bit of reverse psychology, don't match the colors, haha. And, that worked! The broadband light flickered green as soon as I plugged up the yellow cord into the red port, then after about 10 seconds it became solid green. Rosalyn asked me to test that I could use the internet and it completely works now!

So, if you hadn't helped me I probably wouldn't of known what number to call or have the confidence that my problem could be solved in one night. So, thank you both for your help and I hope this post helps someone in the future.

Sincerely,

Jessica

Extra -- So, I currently live with my parents. I had to sneak into my parents bedroom while they were sleeping in order to borrow their phones so Rosalyn could confirm that I am their adult child. This was done to protect their account and info, so I am not upset. I am currently 28 years young, and my mom even thanked me once she sleepily realized what was going on. It feels like I should be in trouble even though I was just trying to help, haha.

Thanks for the update, @Jess4Internet.

We're glad to hear that your internet is reconnected, and that an agent was able to confirm the modem you have & assist you with getting it running again.
