Flashing Green Router Light

I received my BGW320 router yesterday. The power cord is plugged into the socket and the SFP cord is connected to the fiber outlet in the wall. The router box goes through the process of turning white, then green to indicate that it's setting up but it never turns to a solid green...just keeps flashing green. I confirmed my account set up is complete and have tried restarting multiple time, unplugging, etc. Any idea why the start up will not complete?

Factory Reset the equipment by depressing and holding the reset button for 20 seconds

The red button on the back? I've done that about 5 times. Anything else it could be?

Hi cameronsdavis87,

Thanks for reaching out on the AT&T Community Forums! We'll happily help you learn what your Gateway lights mean and stabilize your Internet connection.

We can give you troubleshooting options to try on your gateway. You can try restarting and factory resetting your gateway. Here are the steps to restart:

  • Unplug the power connection behind the gateway for ~15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and wait for the broadband light to turn green.

Here are the steps to factory reset:

  • Locate the small red button & pinhole on the lower rear of the gateway
  • Depress for ~15 seconds.

Also, the gateway status light chart that my thoughts provided should give you a good idea as to why the gateway is acting up. Please go through this article to understand your Gateway lights

  • Green: The gateway is powered on.
  • Flashing green: The gateway is starting.
  • Amber: There’s a software update in progress. Don’t unplug the gateway or remove the battery until the update completes.
  • Red: The gateway or power supply may be malfunctioning. Try rebooting your gateway to fix it.

We recommend you to please go through this article to reboot your Gateway by following these below steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait up to 10 minutes for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green.

Let us know if this helps.

Happy to Assist!

If the reset does not resolve then flashing green is waiting for activation of the ONT.

This was always performed by the tech, but as equipment was shipped to you for self install hopefully you have instructions how to activate the gateway ONT

Thanks everyone. I called the help line at 800-288-2020 and it was easily resolved in about 10 minutes. The tech was able to send a signal to my box and get it activated.

Hi @marshray48  the article that you've mentioned :https://forums.att.com/conversations/att-internet-features/how-to-restart-and-factory-reset-your-gateway/5defcdb0bad5f2f606a91ecd?source=ESSZ0SSPR00facsEM&wtExtndSource=20230929161853_AT%26T+Community+Forums__COMMUNITY_11450129781

Can you please mention what steps worked for you? I followed the whole article just like as mentioned but I'm unable to sort out my problem, and it's still there?

A flashing green light on your BGW320 router typically indicates that the device is attempting to establish a connection but is unable to complete the process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check Connections:

    • Ensure that all cables are securely connected. Double-check the power cord, the SFP cable, and any other connections to the fiber outlet.
    • Make sure the fiber cable is properly inserted into the wall outlet and the SFP port on the router.
  2. Verify Fiber Signal:

    • Ensure there are no physical damages to the fiber cable.
    • If possible, try connecting another known working device to the fiber outlet to confirm there is a signal.
  3. Restart the Router:

    • Unplug the router from the power source.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and allow the router to go through the boot-up process.
  4. Factory Reset:

    • Locate the reset button on the router.
    • Press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds until the router starts to reboot.
    • This will reset the router to its default factory settings, so you will need to reconfigure any custom settings.
  5. Account and Activation Issues:

    • Confirm that your service has been fully activated by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Sometimes the activation process might take some time to complete on their end.
    • Ensure that your account is in good standing and there are no pending issues.
  6. ISP Support:

    • Contact your ISP's technical support. There could be an issue on their end that requires attention.
    • Provide them with details of the problem, and they may be able to send a technician to inspect the fiber connection or provide a replacement router if necessary.
  7. Firmware Updates:

    • Sometimes, routers require firmware updates to function properly. Check with your ISP if the router needs a firmware update and how to perform it if it hasn't been done automatically. Please Check your Kuwait Civil ID Status Visiting official website.

A flashing green light on your BGW320 router typically indicates that the router is trying to establish a connection but is not yet successful. Here are some potential reasons and steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Fiber Connection Issues:

    • Ensure that the SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) module is securely connected to the fiber outlet and the router.
    • Check the fiber optic cable for any visible damage or kinks that could disrupt the connection.
  2. Service Activation:

    • Even though you mentioned your account setup is complete, sometimes there can be delays or issues with service activation on the provider’s end. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to confirm that your service is fully activated and there are no issues on their side.
  3. SFP Module and Port:

    • The SFP module should be correctly inserted into the appropriate port. Double-check that it’s securely in place.
    • If you have another compatible SFP module, try swapping it to see if the issue persists.
  4. Firmware Updates:

    • Ensure your router’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, routers need the latest firmware to function correctly. You can usually update the firmware via the router’s admin interface.
  5. Factory Reset:

    • Perform a factory reset on the router. This can resolve issues that a simple reboot cannot. Usually, there’s a reset button on the router that you can press and hold (often for about 10-15 seconds) to initiate a factory reset. Be aware that this will erase any custom settings.
  6. Network Configuration:

    • Verify that your network settings are configured correctly. Incorrect settings can prevent the router from establishing a proper connection.
  7. Router Placement:

    • Make sure the router is placed in an open, unobstructed area to ensure it’s receiving a good signal from the fiber connection.
  8. ISP-Specific Issues:

    • Sometimes, specific configurations or additional setup steps are required by the ISP. Check your ISP’s support documentation or contact their customer service for any special instructions or configurations needed for your BGW320 router. Please Check PACI Kuwait Online Guide Visiting official website.
