Internet fiber out again

This is the third time in 3 months the internet outage occurred in zip code 75232.

why does this keep happening?  It’s the weekend and no internet!  App says it should be restored by 3:00 pm.  Last time the time got moved until it was 3 days later!

Type of service, copper or fiber? Aerial or buried.

Both are subject to various influences such as natural disasters like hurricane, tornado, wild fires from lightning strike, high winds resulting in fallen limbs or trees damaging lines, snow/ice damage during winter months to lines.

Animals can damage lines/equipment including ants, birds, mice, rabbit, snake, squirrel, wasps, etc… if they enter the enclosure they can cause damage.

Humans from auto accident, bombing, gas line explosion, cutting, digging, etc can result in damage requiring repair.

Equipment failure such as bad power or card failure at Central Office or VRAD or splitter issue at PFP.

Consider the outside plant from source to your home could be a mile or more but will use 2600 about .5 mile.

If consider connection every 150 feet (splice point or terminal) that is 17 to 18 possible points of failure just from animal damage accessing the enclosure. A problem one month mat been animal related, another month could have been animal related at same or different point along the way… add in some storms, human activities, etc could be three unrelated events happening over several months.

I once did a new install hanging a new drop wire from pole to house, two days later a big storm took down part of tree snapping the newly placed line in less than a week, customer out of service 2 days after installation. Having seen damages caused by autos or lawnmowers knocking over pedestals, construction crews digging including local power and gas damaging ATT lines taking out several city blocks, road widening requiring ATT equipment to be relocated, etc.

Unless find the local tech who knows what happen, you will not know how or when only once service restored do you know how long it took.

That is the way, aside from the alternative call into technical service to determine if there is something they could perhaps remedy.
