Issue with Hulu Freezing on AT&T fiber via Roku

Hi - Having issues with Hulu freezing on Roku after moving to AT&T fiber.     Worked flawlessly on Xfinity but as soon as I switched issues started immediately.

Is your new AT&T Gateway located in the same location as your xFinity Gateway for Wi-Fi service?

Same exact location.   I use my own router but the modems are in the same place.

Funny thing is that my wife was unable to send emails via Spectrum (mail.twc.com) while connected to our home wifi.   As soon as turned wifi off the outbox cleared.   So, there must be some issue with what IP addresses that AT&T uses

OK what router are you using, brand and model and have you setup IP/Passthrough mode on your AT&T Gateway which is also a router? Please describe the freezing you are having in Hulu? Example: is it only on playback or when connecting to the Hulu backend. Finally what AT&T Gateway are you using? Examples: BGW210 or BGW320.

This is not an AT&T Fiber Issue. What email program is your wife using as it needs to be configured to send through AT&T if using a third-party outbound mail gateway (Spectrum, Comcast, etc...) while connected to AT&T?

This is by design and prevents SPAM.

Hi - I have a Asus WiFi 6 Mesh set up with an AX11000 as the main router and 2 AX6100 mesh nodes.   I'm not sure where the IP/Passthrough setting is.   The freezing symptom is both audio and video stops and the image stays on the screen.   Can be resolved hitting exit and then resume but freeze happens shortly after.   BGW320.

The email issue is on an iPhone and I just checked and have similar issue on my phone.   the default mail app is being used in both cases.   the emails sit in the outbox.   Turning off WiFi (disconnecting from AT&T fiber) clears the queue.   The issue has happened on my wife's phone (AT&T) and my phone (Verizon) and is easy to recreate.    Found an article about the address space that AT&T is using for AT&T fiber causing issues for other users.    Again, didn't have this issue until I switched from Xfinity to AT&T Fiber.

The IP/Passthrough setting is set on your BGW320 on this Admin page: http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bin/ippass.ha since you don't know where to setup IP/Passthrough then you have not used it yet. You configure it to share the AT&T router's public IP with your AX1000 router.

Using the link above will prompt you for your BGW320 Access Code printed on the label on the back of the BGW320.

  • Select DHCPS-fixed from the Passthrough Mode drop-down.
  • Enter the MAC address of the device that is to be set up to receive the public IP address in the Passthrough Fixed MAC Address field.
  • Select Save. A re-starting gateway reminder message appears.
  • Select Restart Now to complete the setting change.
  • Refresh the network connection on your AX1000 that is to be set up to receive the public IP address. Typically this can be done with a power cycle of the device.

Found an article about the address space that AT&T is using for AT&T fiber causing issues for other users.

This is incorrect information. AT&T Fiber is not causing an issue but preventing SPAM. You would be amazed how much SPAM can be sent from a Fiber connection.

For each email account you actually need to properly configure the email Accounts you are using for off network access and using your AT&T Fiber Wi-Fi. When properly configured the Smartphone mail apps should work on any connection.

You manage the default mail iPhone app by using the iPhone Settings link and configuring each account based on the requirements listed for each service. Google for Google mail, Spectrum for their mail access aka mail.twc.com (old Time Warner Cable), etc...

Thanks Dave!    Much appreciated!    I did have to set the passthrough mode to DHCPS-dynamic in order to get the public IP to passthrough.   Let's see if this helps the Hulu situation.

Correction - The AT&T GW is still set for DHCPS-fixed and my router has the public IP just fine.
