Location issue

I live in Orlando, FL. Since I installed AT&T Fiber recently my web browsing, shopping have had the problem of location errors. For example, I just placed an order this morning with Lowe's. I was told I could pick up my order in 2 hours in Anchorage, AK. I made another online buy and was told my order would be ready for pickup at a store in Albany, NY. I have attempted to access financial accounts and been denied. A security email from one particular bank said the transaction was declined because someone tried to access my account from Palm Springs, CA. A similar location issue happens while watching TV. During the usual commercial breaks we'll see ads from car dealers in California, or for pest control services in Atlanta,GA. WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH IS GOING ON and how does it get fixed>

IP Geolocation should be lumped in with Astrology, tea leaf reading and possibly economics.  It should never be used for authentication/security, but it is so employed every day.  The ISPs do not provide precise location information for the IP addresses, IP Geolocation services come up with that in other ways (e.g. phones that have GPS chips and connect via your Wi-Fi will report in to services and help establish where your home's IPv4 is).

Your experience may get better over time, or not.

Lowe's is easy to update. On the top left of their web site pages just pick and save your local store. Next field to the right is where you can set your Zipcode. Almost all Online Sales Sites offer similar feature settings.

By default when you get service the Geo location is registered to the address of the registrant. Over time your web surfing will lead Geo Address sites to capture your actual location or at least your local area with in a town or maybe a nearby town.

Here are some links where you can add details on your "location".

Wait for the geolocation provider to approve your request. If your request is approved, the amount of time it takes to see the correction varies by provider. The average is a month or more.
