Swap 210 gateway for 320

My Wi-Fi that was installed earlier this month does not meet my standards, it is too slow and I would like the BGW320 Gateway instead of the BGW210. Can you please help me with this request?

I frequently drop from these calls as it appears to be slightly out of range? Should I not worry about a 320 and stick with 210 and invest in a mesh system?

Where is your office in relation to where the BGW210 is installed? Directly above or across the floor on the 3rd floor? There could also be interference or things blocking your Wi-Fi signal on the 2nd floor. Is your BGW210 on a flat level surface 36 inches above the floor with no Electronic equipment (Monitors, TVs, etc...) within 3 feet?

A BGW320 will not provide more coverage or higher Wi-FI 6 (802.11ax) speeds over distances if you already have connectivity issues on Wi-Fi. What device are you using in your office, a laptop or Desktop?

If you want Whole House (WH) Wi-Fi coverage with a good signal level you should strongly consider a Mesh System with multiple Satellite units.

You have to call 800-288-2020

Techs provide gateway based upon their inventory, speed tier ordered, and access.

I would estimate 4 out of 5 or better is now receiving the BGW 320 on new installs, internet 2000 / 5000 requires the BGW-320.

What speed tier did you order?

Receiving those speeds on hardwired connection?

Wireless speeds have no guarantee due to a variety of environmental factors including construction materials, distance, competition from other devices in same frequency range.

Supposedly we are on Fiber internet. We are on the ATT internet 1000. Which is why I want to upgrade to the 320 to take advantage of the advanced MESH systems to help w dead zones

The 320 mesh system only works with Att extenders. Which aren’t that good. Keep your 210 and purchase a mesh Wi-Fi system. Asus, netgear, tp link, eero among others.

What are your standards for Wi-Fi speeds? Where is your new BGW210 and stand alone ONT located in your house?

To have a BGW320 installed you will need a tech to bring it and remove your current ONT and rerun Fiber to a new AT&T Branded wall plat and connect a Fiber jumper cable to the BGW320. AT&T will not just ship you a BGW320 to swap for your BGW210.

@dave006 thanks for sharing. Since I work from home and am on frequent video calls, I need a stable internet. My office is located on the third floor of a three story town house. The ONT box is in the garage (first floor), and the ATT service guy installed the 210 on in the family room (second floor). I frequently drop from these calls as it appears to be slightly out of range? Should I not worry about a 320 and stick with 210 and invest in a mesh system? The reason I wanted a 320 is because I have read other forums online that have indicated 320s are better options for the new high end mesh systems then the 210s

Maybe you can link some of those messages, but it’s just a bunch of hogwash. Once you use terms like reliability and availability, Att gateways are out for wifi.  The people here are not blowing smoke.  I’ve personally been through this meat grinder and still have scars and embarrassment of interrupted meetings because of these gateways.  So either be a Don Quixote or move on and follow the advice already given.  Good luck.

@gr8sho noted! Never been here before so I trust the experts here. Other forums I've read were reddit threads. My plan is to invest in a mesh system and keep the 210.
