Will monthly update reset all of my 5268ac modem/router configuration settings?
I just started the U-Verse internet service and the technician who hooked my up mentioned that AT&T deploys monthly updates to the router that will reset all custom settings. Is it true? Does it mean that I should not make any changes (rename the network, change the password, configure IP address to MAC address bindings, port forwarding, etc) since they will be reset to defaults at random times? Seriously? If this is the case, how do people use the router (since it would be a hassle to reconfigure it every month)? Thanks.

I don't think software updates don't reset the gateway to the original settings.
What do you say, @my thoughts ?

They do not reset the values of the router just add or remove features for the end user. And it is not every month either.

@Ichbingerard: Great. Thanks for the confirmation. I suspected the technician was off on this (this would be an awful approach). Glad it's not the case. Now, next to the other issues. 🙂
