Best time to sign up for Fiber when moving?
My wife and I are moving out of state in two weeks and will be at our new home beginning November 9. We couldn't get ATT Fiber where are now but we could get it at the new house in the new state.
When I try to sign up online, it seems (unless I'm wrong) that a self-install kit will be shipped and arrive in 1-5 days. I don't want that sitting at an empty house for days on end, but I want to minimize the time without internet at the new house as much as possible.
How soon before moving would you look to sign up for service? We don't know anyone in the new city to help us out with this.
Would signing up in store be easier?

Is the house a previous occupied home with ATT internet? Not new construction?
Self install would be available for existing service, full tech install would be required for new installation. Consider shipping time the earliest I would consider would be 5 days before being on site, three days more likely.
In my experience, existing service self install are about 95% no issue, 5% may have a problem requiring a tech appointment which may take several days latter after arrival of equipment.
The store will not help compared to online ordering… stores are for cell phones not home internet and you will not be receiving service or installation from a store employee, sales force, not techs.

It's not a new home (built in 2011) but I don't know if there's been a previous ATT fiber install there or not. The home does have it available, though.
I understand that self-install kits are only offered on the website if there's been a previous ATT fiber install at the address you put in. Is that incorrect?
