Door-to-door scam?
Just a few minutes ago, (around 1:30 pm CT), two young men knocked on my door.
They told me that I could get special deals such as no installation fee, etc. on AT&T fiber if I signed up now. Deals that I couldn't get by going to my AT&T account on the internet.
Sounded like a scam. What business would be offering special deals in the middle of a weekday afternoon when almost everybody is at work? I think they were trying to hit up retirees.
They were wearing AT&T logos.
I told them no.

Likely 3rd party sales similar to big box stores in various locations…
With more WFH and virtual schooling since 2020 plus 2nd and 3rd shift workers there is no good or right time to visit everybody.
3rd party sales could have ATT attire with a photo badge on red background and contractor on badge.
ATT employee badges have blue background and employee written on badge.

There are door-to-door sales teams that sell AT&T services. That part is true. What can happen is that these “contractors” can be less than truthful.
All legit deals are available online.
