Fiber for non-profit
Hi, we have an animal rescue and therapy non profit located on a ranch in California. There is commercial fiber in front of the property and we’d like to get service. Is there an economical solution? We’ve been quoted high business rates that are very high.

First this a customer to customer forum so we can only provide ideas or suggestions.
Just because there is commercial fiber passing your address does not mean that you can "tap" into it. It may be back-haul for a Cell tower, local government, private business or other closed systems.
Do you have an option for a Cable ISP at your address?
There are a couple of levels of commercial fiber service. Basic business service in a residential setting. Metro service only available in more commercial areas and not in rural areas.
And Dedicated Fiber which is what you were likely quoted and starts at about $495 per month for Fiber 10/10 service and goes up from there. AT&T will need to run a dedicated Fiber to your ranch from the nearest serving location which is not the fiber line running in front of your property that's why it is so expensive.

Have you looked at Fixed Wireless (not available everywhere ?

Thanks, Dave. This is very helpful. The only service available is 10/1 DSL. I can get up to 10gb fiber here but they require a 12 mo commitment to turn it on and $500/mo minimum as you said. I was hoping they have a discount price for nonprofits. Maybe fixed wireless has some deals. They are also very expensive.

Let's see if we can point you in the right direction, @Fhrescue.
Thank you to @Dave006 for the useful information.
Here is more information on our low cost internet. This has information about our EBB program which is an emergency broad band benefit program.

Thank you @ATTHelp does the EBB only apply to home internet? We have a home internet service but it is very slow (basically useless). We are looking for getting a commercial service so we can use the fiber lines.

Thank you for rescuing animals!
If you cannot get the service you want at the price you want, I am wondering if ATT corporate has a division that donates to non-profits...or if the local ATT store in your area has a donation budget. When I worked at a local store of a corporation (in a different industry), we had a monthly and quarterly donation budget to support community activities, non-profits, etc. Maybe ATT would donate/waive the installation/equipment fees etc and just charge you for the service. A lot of people love animals. Worth looking into. Good luck!
