How can I get fiber ran

I live around the corner from some homes that have fiber. How can I get this service brought to my home?

You wait for an IF or WHEN future moment in time when ATT expands to a new deployment that would include your street. The current FTTP fiber deployment that includes around the corner or across the street is the border edge for that planned/ budget fiber footprint. Think of a 6 block by 6 block square, everything inside has fiber, everything outside may receive fiber in the future from a different scheduled area.

Only 50% of ATT hardwired footprint addresses in 21 states is expected to have fiber by end 2025. That is total of 60+ million addressses with 30+ million having fiber and 30+ million having the same choices since Uverse FTTN deployment ended in December 2015.

I live in Melissa TX in the Villages of Melissa. Half my neighborhood (half of phase 2 and all of phase 3) has AT&T fiber already available to them and the other half doesnt. Who can we contact to get fiber ran to the rest of the neighborhood? It's an HOA community so I'm not sure if its a mixture of the HOA board of directors, city council, and AT&T. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @Perales08a, we're happy to address your inquiry about fiber availability in your area.

We are continually expanding fiber to more households. There are several steps that may delay availability such as permits requests, engineers creating blueprints, adding the lines, and getting additional equipment.

Here are some reasons that contribute to delay in fiber availability in your area:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you.

We do recommend signing up for fiber notifications. You will receive a notification when fiber is avaliable in your area. We also suggest looking at our helpful article on how to get fiber internet in your home.
