Letters from ATT in January & February about upgrading to fiber

ATT sent me letters wherein they insisted that i get their fiber thing or they'd cancel my service. I didn't cave because i have Google fiber. The day they said my service would end without buying in was the day several weeks ago that a ton of Att subscribers had their service interrupted.. Did anyone else get letters like mine from Att? And can they make a threat like that? My service wasn't interrupted, but it?s occasionally, annoyingly wonky, which it wasn't before.

Are you sure you're still not paying for old DSL service or fixed wireless from AT&T? (or previously had?)

Yes and yes.   AT&T is retiring copper everywhere.  You either upgrade to fiber or switch to a different service provider.

Since you already have a different service provider, I can't imagine why they would send you a letter since you aren't their customer... Or do you still have a landline provided by AT&T?

They’re not threats, but rather stating facts and will act on them if customers choose to do nothing.  They’re doing an access conversion and giving options, but one that is not is to stay on DSL.   Copper worked well enough for POTS, but could not keep up with the pace of technology.  However if you feel strongly about the situation or have a hardship case, why not bring it to the FCC. But that’s not the case here, is it ?…
