Questions about Fiber

I want to switch to ATT from Spectrum, but I'm a bit on the hook. I have a couple of questions.

1) does the price of 80$ for the 1 gig plan go up after some time?

2) is there any installation fee?

3) can they keep my current Spectrum cable line intact so I can switch back if I have some issues with AT&T? I'm thinking of keeping my Spectrum subscription active during my first month with AT&T and then canceling afterwards if it goes well.

4) can I have a tech come to my house to give me a rundown of what will need to be done before going all in?

5) any other terms or conditions I need to know about?

6) how many fees should I expect to pay in Pasadena

1) There is no scheduled plan increase, this isn't a promotional rate.  However, there's no guarantee that AT&T won't ever raise prices.

2) Typically, no.  It should be disclosed as a one-time charge at ordering time if there is.

3) There's no reason they should have to cut your Spectrum service.  Tell them you're keeping it so that they won't.  Do understand that having two Wi-Fi routers in the same home will cause them to have to try to stay out of each other's way; one may get sub optimal channels and both may get narrower channels.  If you disable Wi-Fi on one, then that would take care of that.

4) The installer normally starts the appointment by going over where the fiber should enter the home, where the Gateway should go, how the fiber will get to the Gateway.  If you don't like what he's saying, you can call it off.  Before that?  You're best served asking us.

5) AT&T has standard Terms and Conditions online.

6) Can't help you with that.

@JefferMC  If, say, I didn't want to continue with the Fiber installation process, would they charge me a cancellation fee for canceling my subscription to Fiber and essentially wasting the tech's time?

Also, how do they normally do this? Is it holes all over the house? Do they normally fix these after?

I've never heard of a charge for the installation when it was cancelled.  What the installer prefers to do is drill a single hole through an exterior wall to run the fiber in and place a fiber wall plate right inside the house there, and that's where the Gateway would go.  That's probably at one end of the house, which is likely not where you want it (unless you're planning a mesh system behind the Gateway anyway).

If you want the Gateway somewhere else, then if there's a crawlspace or some way to run the fiber to where you want the Gateway, and you don't mind a hole for the fiber there, then normally the installer will do this, within reason.  Note that AT&T installers don't normally fish things through walls.
