Your desired speed upgrade requires a different type of splitter, once installed and activated the addresses serviced by PFP should show new option. If order would need a new installation for changing connection at PFP and the ONT within the home.
So AT&T suddenly does not like money I guess? I'm willing to pay now for the 2 or 5 Gig Fiber speeds. I doubt it would require anything new in my home, I already have the AT&T Fiber 1000 which is to the home, not the pole, and my router is the latest model. When Google Fiber rolls into a neighborhood they launch 1, 2, and 5 gig service immediately, I don't understand why AT&T would not do the same.
Google fiber did not start offering multi gig service till several years after their initial fiber start which was 1G service.
Similar to ATT Fiber from 2016 to 2022 was all 1G service, at average 3 million per year by start of 2022 (6 years 18 million addresses were all 1G service. With the announcement in January 2022 of providing multi gig (2G / 5G) they had a lot of 1G fiber splitters to use thus most new PFP in fist half of 2022 were mixed and only within last 18 months have been all multi gig.
Thus the question when was your neighborhood wired for live service, prior to June 2022 would expect 1G as best unless the initial 32 port GPON splitters were at or near capacity when XGSPON splitters would be installed.
I suspect by end of current fiber build out in December 2025 about 50% of the 30+ million fiber addresses will be multi gig and by end 2028 all hopefully will be upgraded.
Current retail fiber pricing…internet 300 $60, internet 500 $70, internet 1000 $85, 2000 $130, 5000 $230.
BTW Google fiber stopped deploying in October 2016 after being in 10 markets and did not start again till 5 years later in 2022, during this time ATT added 15+ million fiber locations in about 80+ markets.

Anyone who actually had access to a timeline isn't going to respond. AT&T plays all such information close to the vest. What he has told you is as much info as you're likely to get until you can actually order it. This is a public forum hosted by AT&T for its customers, you don't control who answers.
AT&T is currently rolling out new deploys using XGS-PON, which allows 1, 2 and 5 Gbps service. Before that, they were rolling out GPON, which has a maximum bandwidth of 1 Gbps. Your neighborhood, if 2 and 5 Gbps are not offered, is GPON. Before XGS-PON can be offered to your neighborhood, the OLT equipment at your CO must be XGS-PON capable and an XGS-PON splitter installed in your neighborhood's PFP. AT&T usually only does that when they need to buy new equipment... because the old equipment is full or no longer maintainable.
BTW, thank you for that explanation of the two flavors of fiber deployed by Att. If anything it says the tech will continue to evolve and if I’m not mistaken, Comcast has talked about their 10G network, and is actually selling 10Gb symmetrical service, so clearly there’s a solution out there being marketed looking for a problem. Att will likely need to compete at some point.
Comcast's "10G" network is 10G somewhere in the backend and not anywhere approaching what a customer would see and they have been taking to task by NAB for the use of the "10G" name in advertising. AT&T's XGS-PON could actually deliver 10 Gbps to the home if they wished, but given that the fiber is split 64 ways, that means it's even more likely that customers paying for 10 Gbps would not get 10 Gbps due to other customers needing some of the fiber.
