Can no longer call out or recieve calls on my AT&T 2 Handset Answering system phone Model CL82229

I was on a call and all of a sudden the call went dead and I can no longer receive calls or call out on either one of the handsets.  I do not have a blocked callers list or any other things set up on this.  What could the problem be or do I need to just go buy another phone?

Do you have dial tone?  Do you have power to the base unit?  Have you tested from the NID if this is a traditional landline? Have you reset the modem if you service is U-verse?

I have the same problem, did all the above and only get a busy signal on both handsets and message that line is busy or mailbox full when callers try to call in.  This phone is 1 month old.

Hi @RiOpthate,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

We understand the importance of being able to stay connected, we're here to help you with the cordless phone issue.

We recommend going through few tips to restore incoming calls:

  • Make sure any cordless phones have power.
  • Check that all cords are securely connected to your Wi-Fi® gateway.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi gateway by unplugging it from the power source (this will temporarily interrupt your AT&T Internet and TV services). Plug the power cord back in and wait for the gateway to power up.
  • If you’re able to call out, have a friend call your phone as a test.

Additionally, please verify call forwarding is off. If the issue still persists, make sure call forwarding isn’t activated.

  1. Go to your Account overview and select My digital phone.
  2. Choose My voicemail & phone features and then Phone Features.
  3. Select All Call Forwarding.
  4. Make sure Off is selected.
  5. Select Save.

We also, recommend that you check out and follow few instructions in the article for answering machine does not pick up incoming calls.

Hope this helps!

We look forward to your response and the opportunity to help you!
