I'm looking for a base with an answering machine compatible with my EL51303 handset..
I have wasted months and tons of money just trying to get and answering machine with a couple of handsets.
First I bought what looked like the goal, and yet I discover the Voice mail has to go though your phone provider.
Then I got what I thought was a compatible base with an answering machine and only only one handset. (seeing as I already had four) AT&T tells me the Base with the answering machine is compatible with a particular handset not the ones I already have.. so I order it... later I learn that this base is not expandable and the now third Purchase of what I was told would be compatible to the answering machine won't work because base is not expandable contrary to the sellers info..
Why Would AT&T be so ridiculous to do this.. any nostalgia I had for this brand is now shot...
why make so many versions of incompatibility .
Does anyone know of a base that has an answering machine that would go with my EL51303 handsets?

EL51303 is the base unit manual found here the manual doesn't give you a separate model number of the actual handset and it's one of those you'll go nuts trying to find the model number of the handset for this base unit. As far as finding a base unit for the handset with an answering machine, that would be impossible as per the manual that model didn't come with an answering machine. If you've already spent tons of time and money messing with this, quit. Just go buy a cordless system with answering machine that has the number of handsets you want.
