It's wrong
It's wrong that I, with no wealth, have to give a multi-billion dollar company a piece of my property to let them put a utility box, that they are profiting from, for free.
Easements are pretty much robbery.
I don't use AT&T, but if I did use their services, I would have to pay them.
They have had a phone utility box on my property for more than 40 years, rent free.
It's not that it is an eyesore or dangerous, but the whole idea that I have no money and they have billions have to give them an easement.
Easements are constitutionally wrong.
40+ years of back rent I could really use to pay bills, they would never miss it.

Your local government has decided that AT&T can place lines and equipment in that easement for "the public good." If you have an issue with that decision, take it up with your local government.

They don't pay rent for easements. The size and placement of easements is governed by your local taxing authority.

I know they don't pay rent on easements, that's what is wrong with the "system".
On a different note, they don't even use the utility box any more, but it's still there on my property.
What would happen if I put an unmovable object on their land, or anybody else's land?
Prosecution for trespassing or fines for building on someone's land. I would not get away with it for sure.

A utility easement is a designated parcel of land that gives utility companies the right to access private property for the good of the community. For example, a utility company may have the right to trim a tree in your backyard if it’s interfering with telephone lines.
A utility easement can be an inconvenience for a homeowner, but it does bring the benefits of modern civilization. Without these types of easements it could be difficult for utility companies to provide services to support our modern way of life such as water, electricity and sewage treatment.
