Landline Copper to Fiber Migration Timeline?

Over the years I've been checking FCC website and the AT&T website for CLEC and I click the "discontinued service areas" tab to see the status of copper to fiber migration. I found that almost all of the copper shutdowns in the Midwest have been in Michigan and Ohio. Over the past year Indiana and Wisconsin central offices began to appear on that database. But there were never any copper shutdowns in Illinois. I figured Illinois would be last. But in November, there were 16 central offices in Illinois that were transitioned from copper to fiber, most were smaller cities and suburbs but there was one central office in Chicago that was converted. I looked up the switch type for a couple of the central offices and they were changed from DMH or 5E to D12 switches. It seems to have happened in a much more widespread fashion in Illinois. In some of the other "discontinued service areas" only parts of streets and neighborhoods were disconnected from copper service but in the Illinois cases it was the entire central office. So, I am wondering if AT&T is speeding up it's copper retirement. Any information would be helpful. We currently have one copper landline and one LTE wireless home phone line so we won't be without phone service. However, I'd like to port the copper landline number we have to a cheap voip provider.
