Page 79 of the manual found here makes no mention of a beep when you have a message waiting on your phone company voicemail. It also has no mention of a beep when the call log has information that hasn't been reviewed. Best I can tell you is to go through the manual and review your setting. I did see a hold reminder tone.

Hi @jacnickels,

I understand your concern. Let's get the help you need.

AT&T voicemail plays an interrupted dial tone and, if available, turns the message waiting light and alert on when you have messages. You can turn the message-waiting indicator on or off any time. Here’s how to manage your notification alerts:

  1. Tap the AT&T Visual Voicemail app
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Notifications to turn alerts on or off.

Additionally perform the below steps to fix the issue.

First, make sure you're in an AT&T wireless coverage area. If you’re not. you won't be able to create a new voicemail password.

  1. Go to your account overview and open My wireless.
  2. Scroll to My Devices & add-ons and choose the device you want to manage.
  3. Select Manage my device.
  4. Look in Device options & settings, choose Reset voicemail password, and follow the prompts.

Reset voicemail password for other phone services

Find steps to change your voicemail password for other phone services:

I you still face the same issue, please reach out to Get step-by-step help to fix voicemail issues, they can help you out in fixing the issue. Also follow basic voicemail notification settings.

If doing it for the first time please go through, set up voicemail on your mobile phone.

I hope the above information helps!

Please get back to us if you have any questions or queries.

Thank you,

Justin, AT&T Community Specialist.

@ATTHelp Boy y'all should read an issue before posting. Two of you posted the same thing and neither are the issue the OP is asking about they clearly state on their phones. If you're correct and they're talking about the stutter dial tone I'll apologize.

On my ATT&T 974 land line phone, the message waiting alert Beeb is not working??  Again, this is a land line, hard wired phone and not a wireless phone or a cell phone.  This function use to work well and suddenly it doesn't work and hasn't for some time now.  Almost like something got accidentally switched off.??

I found nothing in your phones manual about an audible message indication. I posted a link to your manual tell us what page it's on. The phone options don't change with type of service. So it being a traditional landline is immaterial. If you're talking about something other than a physical phone option let us know what it is.

Yep, I have the manual that came with the phone, and I too could not find and reference to an audible Beeb alert letting me know that I have a new message on the phone.  What's strange is that I use to have this audible Beeb alert and it worked for years but now it doesn't??

All I can say is in my experience if it's not in the manual it's not an option.
