change date

I have a CL2940 phone but because it is a leap year the date is not correct. I have tried following the instructions to change date but it never gives me the option. When I press menu/select it just tells me "play messages  or answering sys. Can you help me?

This is the manual for the CL2940. As you can see there is no answering machine associated with it. Page 11 tells you how to set date. So, if the diagram in the manual is not the phone you have look on the bottom for the correct model number. You'll find a phone number in the front of the manual.

Here's the manual for a CL4940 That has an answering machine. Looks exactly the same only this one has an answering machine. Set time and date on page 10

You must have the year set wrong. Make sure the phone is idle, don't pick up the handset. That phone doesn't even have an answering machine.

Here's the manual for a CL4940 That has an answering machine. Looks exactly the same only this one has an answering machine. Set time and date on page 10
