Customer service

Very irritated. Phone and internet go down do to outages seems like every other weekend. I had technician come to house and supposedly cut off all phone jacks but one and now that one not working. Been out a phone for over a week because the only number you can find is the 800-288-2020 and it’s always someone I have a hard time understanding and and they have a had time understanding me. When you finally get across that you need a technician all they want to tell you is that I will be charged $99.00.  AT&T screwed up my home line and there outages all the time is the problem and the only live person I can talk to just wants to charge me $99 for att to fix their on system and then have a nerve to try to sell my other AT&T products. AT&T use to be the elite but is rapidly becoming a joke. Why is it so hard to find a real customer service phone line and an informative live person to talk to get problems resolved.

If your phone service connects to your modem than they will go down at the same time as it's digital phone service. See if anything is plugged into the phone jack on the modem. If it is than you should loose internet service as well as phone service at the same time.

This is a customer populated forum, so we have no help for you on reaching a customer service person who is knowledgeable and speaks English well enough you can understand them. The only thing we can suggest is if you aren't getting the service you're paying for file an FCC complaint. You can also try calling back if the person you're talking to can't be understood.

I had a tech the did something to my phone jacks. He told me he shut them all off but one and now that jack that didn’t have a problem until the tech messed with it is not working. The modem is fine. All the lights there are supposed to be lit up or lit. I have Internet just no phone. It says an open phone line on the read out on my phone. The tech screwed it up but I cannot get a text back, but if they do, they want to charge me $99 to fix their mistake. It should not be this hard to get something fixed that they messed up

That doesn't answer the question of is anything plugged into the phone port on the modem? Your original post says both go down.

This is precisely why I went for a traditional landline recently and I’m loving it. My power has gone out TWICE, last week for 9 hours due to the heavy snow. My phone line was still working with a dial tone. All 3 wall jacks were fine.

Well, POTS (traditional landline) goes out too and many on this board have complained about the lack of service on them.

Hasn’t gone out on me and it’s always been reliable. I can’t recall one time in my life to wear a traditional landline was down. I’m sure it happens, but it’s never happened to me in Illinois has some of the worst power outages.

No, if you have a corded phone that requires no power it won't go down due to a power outage. They will go down due to storms, construction and rodents, to name a few.
