Elderly Mother’s Landline Phone Out Over A Month

My elderly mother’s landline phone has been out since the first week in May and AT&T is refusing to fix it.

Explain refusing to fix. Did they flat out tell you they aren't going to fix it, or are they having other issues?

Mixed messages. Some representatives keep giving her dates as to when her phone will be fixed and two others have told her that her line will not be fixed because they are trying to force people to give up landlines that are based on copper wiring.

@AriesGirl  I don’t know about the forced part but all of the carriers are moving away from POTS lines (Plain Old Telephone Service) to VOIP (intetnet). It’s just too costly to maintain the old copper lines.

As to when it will get fixed is hard to say for the reason I gave above. All you can do is keep pushing Support.

I have filled an FCC report and received a personal call and letter from an AT&T vip (or so they said) did receive a credit on our bill, was never given a direct answer to what the problem was, also given a direct phone number to the person that signed the letter to report any future problems - what is going on with your mother has been the same issue for 5 years - after the letter we had uninterrupted service for 18 months - of course I can't find the letter now that I need it again - I called for service 6/4 and today is 6/16 - same text message updates and still no technician has been here - I will be filing another complaint with the FCC right after I post this- good luck to you
