Old phone line removal.... help?

I bought a house that has an old landline running from the street and a junction box that looks like it's from the 50's that I need removed (It's grounded and I don't want to mess with it...) I've called 3 different customer service numbers and have been told that no one can help me because I don't have an account. Can someone help me? Please?

We can point you in the right direction to get assistance with your phone line and utility box removal request, bbethb.

Give us a call at 800-288-2020 and provide the location details and a description of the equipment, so we can schedule an appointment.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for visiting the AT&T Community Forums. If you need help in the future, we'll be here.

I already called this number (a few times) and was told that no one could help me - one rep told me I could take down the line myself? I am not comfortable climbing a utility pole - there must be a safer way to get this done.

Hi there, bbethb. We understand that you have called before and you have not found sucess in getting your request in. We can help you here.

As Aminah stated, the phone number to call is 1-800-288-2020 option 1. The best time to reach the team that needs to be invovled is between 8am and 7pm CST. Best time to reach them is in the morning so that you can be first in line for your request to be taken.

If there is anything else that we can do for you, please reach back out again.

Thank you for posting with the AT&T Community Forums.

Thanks for coming back, bbethb. We understand that you did not find success with calling customer service. So we are going to step in and try to get your request fulfilled.

Let's meet in the AT&T Direct Message. This way, we can collect your information, and we can get it over the correct team. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to a bell icon. Once you are there, we can continue this over the phone on in chat if you prefer.

Looking forward to speaking with you soon.

ATT was broken up into 7 baby bells in 1982

For the NE US was Bell Atlantic and NYNEX.

These two companies along with GTE formed Verizon in 2000.

If your in NY need to contact Verizon unless your area has been sold off to a different company.

Zip Code?

This is nearly a year-old topic, so unless your issue is exactly like the OP's why not start a new topic with details of your issue. What's Florida Power and Light have to do with the phone line?
