HBO Max Sign In Error

Hi! I am trying to access my HBO Max subscription. I have followed every instruction to the letter, chatted with HBO Max support and still no resolution. I am getting an Unhandled Exception error after clicking from the AT&T Account Page "Start Watching" tile, which takes me to the HBO Max homepage. I select Sign In, then Select a Provider, choose AT&T, my sign in info pops up, then I get the Unhandled Exception error.

I have tried this through Chrome 108.0.5359.98, Safari 16.1 (17614.2.9.1.13, 17614), my iPhone Chrome and Safari and get the same error every time. I have tried through my Cellular Data and not my home network as well.

No one can seem to help me!!! Can you??

We will be more than happy to assist with your HBO Max Sign-In concerns, mawiah.

We would like to ask a few questions before, so we can get a better understanding of your inquiry:

  • Have you tried signing in to HBO Max using the app? This can help with providing you a better experience, and also clearing any error messages you receive when clicking the "Start watching" tile on our AT&T website.
  • Have you attempted to clear your cookies and cache on the web browser you are using? This can help with refreshing your web browser, and allowing you to sign in.

We also recommend you review the official HBO MAX streaming steps which will give you further direction on how to download the streaming app, and how to get signed in.

Please let us know if you require further assistance after reviewing the options provided above.

I subscribe to HBO through Xfinity and now its telling me that i need to choose a plan or click a link if I'm already subscribed. I have tried to login with my Xfinity account but it tells me that it's not the primary account. I have tried to login with all acounts connected to the Xfinity account but none of them work. Please help if you can!

I am having same issue. Firestick logged me out of HBO max and when I try to log back in, it refers me to tv to confirm numeric passcode.   Enter numeric passcode and it takes me to att login.  I login and get the same error message.

Hello @Mappio, we are here to help you with logging into your HBO Max.

If you haven't done so yet, we suggest that you Troubleshoot HBO Max on your TV to fix the error code. Under the section titled Things to try, select Roku, and try the different options.

Try signing in to HBO Max on another supported device (phone, tablet, or computer).

If you can't sign in on any device, try resetting your password. Here's how:

  1. Go to HBOMax.com/forgot-password.
  2. Enter your account email and then choose Submit.
  3. Check your inbox for a 'Reset Your HBO Max Password' email sent by HBO Max. This email should arrive within a few minutes.

Let us know if this helps!

AT&T password is correct, I can log in to AT&T portal without any problem. And there's no HBO Max password since we're logging in through service provider. It's the SAML single sign on broken somewhere between ATT and HBO.

I will attempt those steps but I’m not sure how the tv plays a factor when the error message is received after doing the sign in step 7 after entering my AT&T login.

Thank you. When I chatted with support yesterday, they recommended not using the app, but that did work! Appreciate the help!

I’m still having issues signing into Max…it says “can’t verify subscription-it’s looks like you don’t have access to Max through this provider”…I have tried using ATT and DIRECTV. DIRECTV is my provider but it is linked with ATT. When I click on the DIRECTV provider to put in my credentials it takes me to the ATT sign in page. What is going on?!? This has been going on for 3 months now. I’ve spoken to all 3 companies-Max, ATT and DIRECTV…no one has been able to help with this issue
