HELP!! Trying to log in to ATT and getting the "Something's gone wrong. We may be having trouble with your connection." message.

Hi,

I'm working on an assignment in Vietnam. I've been able to log in to ATT with no problem for the past couple of years.

About a week ago my ATT phone battery expanded (blew up?) and knocked the back cover off the phone (Samsung).

The phone would still turn on, but I could not sendor receive any text messages or make any calls.

I tried to log in to My ATT to find out how to get a new phone sent to me in Vietnam, or how to activate a phone with my ATT mobile number that I can buy here.

Since then, every time I try to access the Sign In page I get the above "Sorry, SOmething's gone wrong" message.

I tried to log in from my Dell laptop and from my other modbile phone via my WiFi service and with the app on my phone via cellular service, but same error message every time.

I've cleared the cache in Google Chrome, tried loggin in via another laptop, Explorer, etcetera but keep getting the same error message.

I'm wondering if when my phone battery blew it somehow triggered a block with m,y ATT account.

My biggest problem is that when I use my USA-based credit cards they are sending verification codes to my ATT mobile number and I am not able to use the cards, which is causing some financial challenges.

How can I resolve my situation, unlock my account so that I can sign in, get a new phone and activate it while I am abroad, or get a new phone from ATT sent to me that is already activated?

I'm really stuck.

Thanks!

Mitch

Your AT&T access is blocked unless you can verify through your AT&T sim.   I'm glad to know AT&T security is working appropriately. The point is to block foreign hackers from being able to access your account and cause all sorts of mayhem. Unfortunately, it also is effectively blocking you because you cannot access appropriately with your AT&T SIM.

Unless you have insurance, you are not getting a new phone sent to you outside the USA.  Att doesn't ship out of USA.  Asurion might.

If you have family or friends inside the USA who could acquire a phone for you, and ship it to you, you might have a replacement in a couple of weeks.

Otherwise buy what's available and  unlocked and compatible with your current location and stick a SIM card in it and cross your fingers. Whenever you buy won't work in the USA, but it might pass while you are abroad. At least temporarily so that you can access your account.

Iphones purchased anywhere will work in the USA. Android phones not so much.

Howdy FKA,

Very much appreciate your fast reply. I was guessing it might a problem like that.

I could have my kids get a replacement from ATT and ship it to me. The problem with that is Vietnam customs . . .

They are extremely difficult, and would want to have all kinds of proof of the cost/price paid and then charge 100% duty on that, so . . .

I can buy an iPhone here, no problem. My next question is if I do that then how can I set that up/activate that with my ATT USA mobile number?

Again, thanks for that fast reply and your assistance!

Purchase an iPhone with a physical SIM slot and then move your SIM card (You will not be able to activate the ESIM from your physical SIM card outside the US).

It's that simple except for the call that you're going to have to make using that SIM card to AT&T to make sure they update your data plan.   You'll need to provide them the IMEI of the physical SIM slot

Hello @mnb2003, we hear you and would like to help you.

In the course of resolving your issues related to website connectivity, you may need to check the DNS settings. Typically, DNS settings should be set to obtain DNS information from the AT&T servers. In some situations, you may have to force DNS to resolve your issues, but this is not the preferred setting.

Windows 11

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. In the Settings menu choose Network & Internet.
  4. Select the Connection type (ethernet, wireless, etc.).
  5. Click Edit next to DNS server assignment, verify Automatic (DHCP) is selected.
  6. Click Save.

Windows 10

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu.
  2. Click the Network Connections option in the menu.
  3. Any Network Connections available on that computer will display.
  4. Right-click on the connection that the customer is using (such as, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and so on) and select Properties.
  5. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4, or make sure that is the only option checked and select Properties.
  6. Ensure both Obtain an IP Address automatically and Obtain a DNS server address automatically are selected.
  7. Click OK.

Ensure both Obtain an IP Address automatically and Obtain a DNS server address automatically  are selected in the operating system that you use.

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you,
Jessica, AT&T Community Specialist.

Hi Again FKA,

Sorry for more questions but want to make sure I understand clearly.

Can I use my existing ATT mobile number on the iPhone with the SIM card from my broken phone? I just need to call ATT to finish setting it up. Correct?

Thanks Again!
