Unauthorized Access USPS Letter (not email)

I received the attached letter yesterday in the mail, dated November 8th. It says an unauthorized person gained access to my CPNI info. I saw the data breach in March but nothing recently. AT&T chat said it was spam. Can anyone confirm this?

It seems legit. You should go to your online account. If it's locked, you should follow the instructions for getting it unlocked. If not, it wouldn't hurt to change your password, but it doesn't seem necessary to do so even if the letter is a scam.

800 288-2020 is a published AT&T contact number.

Like @dwill05 , I can't imagine what the end game would be if this letter was an attempted scam.

The obvious way to tell would be to see if you can log into your account online.  If you can’t get in call them.  According to the AT&T web page, the 800 phone number listed at the bottom is a valid AT&T number, although it’s listed for home phone and internet support, not wireless.  Anyway, you don’t have to call that number.  Call the numbers listed on AT&T’s website.  I’m leaning toward legit.  This seems like a reach for a typical scammer since it’s not clear how they can play this to get info from you, especially if you’ve been already notified that your info has been leaked.

Thank you for your response! Everything I researched says it was legit and I logged into my account just fine. I actually talked to support via chat and they said it was spam. I said so the US Mail is sending spam like this? She said yes and ignore. My ex-husband got a letter too which was sent to my house as well. He no longer has AT&T and hasn’t for 4 years. Both letters had the correct last 4 digits, I looked up his old account. I just find it hard to believe I got two separate letters IN THE US MAIL like this. We only ever had AT&T wireless services. I also found identical letters from March that were legit. My account has had a lot of issues the past few months. Apple remoted into my device and said I had SIM spoofing, I reset everything many times but I still have to be careful. It is confusing to say the least.
