AT&T employee committing fraud?

We made a recent purchase of two iPhones. The AT&T rep in the store provided false information about the promotion and sold us an iPad that was supposed to cost us $1/month. I don't know if the rep lied or was incompetent but the impact is the same. Additionally, they added items to our account that we did not request (insurance) and told us we had 30-days to return the iPad. We tried to return the iPad today, within the 30-day window, and the store manager refused to accept the return. The purchase was made at the AT&T store at 538 N. Frederick Rd. in Gaithersburg, MD. Who can I speak to to get this issue resolved?

Consumer accounts have a 14-day return window. Always have. And unless something has changed, it's printed all over the back of your receipt as well as on the bottom.

You can call and have at&t remove the insurance retroactively

You can try talking to AT&T about the ipad by calling them. But don't hold your breath ...

Whatever you signed on the date you took home, the iPad, included the new number/line added to your account, and that you now have a cellular service iPad at $20 per month for service And that somewhere between 60 and 90 days AT&T will start crediting all but $1 of the installment.

The old adage, nothing in life is free is true. The iPad may be deeply discounted to only $36 over 3 years, but the service is not. Just like the free phone deals, you still have a paid service requirement.

You might want to pull out all of your receipts, whatever you signed on the day of purchase. It would confirm that the iPad was added to your account with a new phone number for billing purposes and service.

Is that an AT&T Authorized Retail Store or an AT&T Corporate Store? That can make a big difference. Typically Asurion Insurance and NextUp is added automatically but you can cancel them by going to your account online and canceling there. The salesperson should have mentioned that to you. What does the receipt indicate and did you read the TOS?
