Att says I have a balance , but I don’t
In the last month I have been going back and fourth with AT&Ts customer services reps. Every time I try to place an order it say “ you have an outstanding balance please contact us “ when I call them they tell me I do not have a balance . After some digging around they told me I have a uverse account that has a 500$ balance and I’ll have to pay it before I place any other order . Only problem with that is I’ve never had uverse . I’ve only have internet serviced and phone server with AT&T They can’t seem to help me . I tried contacting the fraud department and they told me “we don’t see any fraudulent activities “ So I don’t know what to do anymore Do I pay the $500 dollars account that isn’t mine ? Or do I leave the company?

1. Okay you wrote you've had or have internet service with AT&T. What kind of internet service? ___________ (DSL or fiber)
2. And do you still have internet service with AT&T? Yes or no
(Because it drives people crazy when they ask you a question and you don't answer the question)
At least saying something like , "the only internet service I've ever had with AT&T is fiber service" would be something of a response. Or maybe, "I have internet service but I don't know what kind it is It's horribly slow/it's blazing fast".

in the past 7 years I have been with att I have only used their phone service , until April 2023 . I signed up for their 300mbps fiber service .
does this help explain it ?

@formerlyknownas Sorry for the late response this website was down for me , Also i barely figured out how to reply to a comment.
So i have had the super fast(fiber) internet with ATT for about 4 months now Prior to that i have never had internet service with ATT
I have been calling CS for months now and they cant seem to figure out where the account i owe money is linked too
some have said direct TV others have said u-verse.
They say i have a balance of 500$
But they dont\cant tell me where the account is and where it originated from.
Now i cant upgrade my phones or add any lines to my account.

I'd say go for the better Business bureau complaint route. A better Business bureau complaint is forwarded to AT&T upper Management and will give them a chance to review this insanity and hopefully figure out it isn't you
I'm guessing they probably are claiming that you have a debt that belongs to somebody with a similar name. It wouldn't be the first time that AT&T didn't follow the numbers, that being the social security numbers
You should definitely run your credit report to make sure that nothing like this shows up on that.

I have been going back and fourth with them , and they give me mixed answers , they tell me it’s a uverse account and then they tell me it’s direct Tv account .

I been having same issue. Said a long time ago I owe 800 for direct TV or something like that. I NEVER had direct TV. And I have always had spectrum/time warner for internet and TV. Until couple months ago

@ashleyc34 Yes it just happened , in 2022 it was all ok , i bought an ipad with them and had no problem , and they dont tell me any information from the account that i "owe on "

Also i have run a credit report , that was my first thought and nothing showed up on the report.
Att cant even see the account on their end.
Its just a stressful problem that has been going on way to long
Could you send me the link to file the compliant and what i would need to include ?
