Can I Get a Refund for My AT&T Apple Watch Payment Plan?

I urgently need help canceling my AT&T payment plan for an Apple Watch that I returned to Best Buy in July of 2022. The issue remains unresolved despite multiple visits to Best Buy and the local AT&T store. I purchased the watch from Best Buy and signed up for the AT&T payment plan. However, after my wife expressed dissatisfaction with the watch I bought her for her birthday, I returned it to Best Buy. Despite the return being accepted, the watch was not deactivated. I suspect the watch was resold in December 2022, as it started using cellular data. Consequently, I have been paying monthly installments since July 2022 for a watch that I no longer possess, as well as a monthly device plan for a watch that is being used by someone else. Therefore, I am requesting AT&T to reimburse all the payments made for the watch and the associated data plan from July 2022 onwards.

THIS IS A CUSTOMER POPULATED MESSAGE BOARD AND NOT A WAY TO CONTACT AT&T.

File a complaint with the BBB.  Those are forwarded to upper management.  Someone should be in contact with you.

Why have you waited two years to say something? You continuing to pay for something expresses you agree with the charges.

@JoeDirt2024 The AT&T store in Best Buy is a retail store. That means it is not owned or operated by AT&T and does not have AT&T employees. In addition to returning the watch you should have removed the watch from your AT&T account because returning it to the point of sale does not automatically cancel it from your account. It is your responsibility to review your account in a timely manner to make sure it is correct, especially after returning an item that may have been part of a promo because that could also affect your payments.

As mentioned, you can try to file an online complaint with the BBB but don't expect full reimbursement, if any, from AT&T because you took too long to notice the issue. As far as AT&T is concerned, you continuing to make payments indicated to them that you were ok with your billing.

As I said in my post, I have been to both stores and on the phone and presented my receipt several times. The AT&T call center told me it would clear in September 2022. I returned to both stores in December 2022 when the watch was still not removed from my account. I have returned to both locations several times since then.

Again, that’s almost two years ago. Why did you not say anything between December 2022 and now?

I have revisited both locations multiple times since December 2022. I seek assistance, not a lecture. @Lockdowncraziness

@JoeDirt2024  If the stores you went to are Authorized AT&T Retail Stores they are not owned or operated by AT&T nor do that have AT&T employees, just like the kiosks in Best Buy, Target, Costco, etc.  They just make a sale, however they can, and pass the information on to AT&T, who has no clue as to what was said and/or promised to the customer. AT&T has no control over their business practices and technically you did business with them, not AT&T.

You are getting assistance. The only option you have now being as so much time has passed,  is to file an online complaint with the BBB and wait for AT&T to contact you. Just have all of your paperwork (receipts etc ) on hand.

I don't suppose you have proof of return?  (2 years later)

If they resold the watch and you've been paying for a watch that someone else is using, is the watch showing usage on your account? Do you understand you could have blacklisted the watch two years ago so that the person that bought it would be alerted to this problem, it would also bolster your claim that you don't have it.

2 years ago you should have filed a better business bureau complaint submitted all of the documentation on the return so that AT&T would take it off the bill and Best buy would have to correct there books as well

I'm extremely pessimistic that's going to get resolved now. May the odds be ever in your favor
