Careful -- ATT Fails To Disclose Increases In Monthly Service Fees

If you have a Mobile Share Plan like I do, you were probably convinced to join in part because the monthly service charges per phone were discounted from $40 to $15 per month. If you have 9 devices, like my family does, this is important.

Careful though, these discounts are temporary! Every time you upgrade a phone you lose that discount. ATT and its resellers (like Best Buy) fail to disclose this. Unless you want to pay full price for your new phone (who does), ATT will remove the discount. If you have 10 phones on your Mobile Share Plan, your monthly charges will increase $250 per month!

I predict customers will leave ATT in big numbers if ATT keeps treating customers this way. We want accurate information at the time we consider upgrading In order to make an informed decision. Finding out later when you receive your bill is not the way to treat customers.

WAKE UP ATT!

umm..the discounts arent temporary..you get the 15 or 25 dollar discount as long as your phone isnt on a two year contract. if you upgrade to a two year contract, your monthly access for that line is 40 dollars..if you get a phone using next, pay full price upfront, or use the out of contract phone, you keep the discount. theres nothing temporary about any of this..and this is also what the other major carrier is doing, if you ever think of switching. they disclose all of this information on the site, at the store, and on the tv ads. you cant blame at&t for something that you or anyone else choose to ignore. i knew what i was getting into when i changed my plan, and i dont have any complaints.

Thanks for your post, but I know what was disclosed and what wasn't. Prices need to decline over time, not increase, and they will continue to do so. Carriers that recognize this and devise policies that are consistent with this trend will win, and those that don't will lose, one customer at a time.

This is called business.
