false trade in charge

March 2024, I called 611 from my wireless phone, Was told that I could trade in my pixel 7 for a pixel 8 pro at NO Charge...... l was at work so I hung up to call that same eve, different AT&T customer service rep... dialed 611.. agent reviewed my account for second time and confirmed I  was eligible for trade in of my pixel 7 for pixel 8 pro..... Went through the whole process.. asking 3 extra times. this is absolute that I will be charged not 1 penny? Was assured all three times , only charge I would occur is $35 dollar activation fee

I received my phone next day.... side note.. not to my correct address, fed ex delivered to a neighbor... not me.... Thank God they were honest to tell me...

I had 7  business days to return my pixel 7... Lost the return box, 3 days later, so placed another call to 611... another agent sent me another box... while on the phone. asked them to confirm no charge to me except activation fee... 3rd person that reviewed my account eligibility and confirmed I was eligible.....

Called 4th  person on May 28 2024,... Why is my bill saying I financed 36 months of an outrageous amount for pixel 8 pro?  standing conversation of 35 min of my life later... I was told it takes 3 to 4 months for computers to catch up... But will receive refund for payments made. If not please contact us when you receive your bill in JUNE.....

June 14...... I get $28 payment for pixel 8 pro,,, 34 payment of 36  financed ......... What???

I call once again.... Get a very rude OMAR.  Ma'am ...You do not qualify for trade in phone without an unlimited plan!!! What??????? repeated  3 time to me that I was not on a unlimited plan so not eligible....... May I speak to an unrude person that is a supervisor Please? Yes , but they will tell you the same as I did...... transferred me to Amanda ....... No ma'am you do not qualify without unlimited plan , Would you like to change your plan, so I may override?? NOOOOOOO.... Why would 3 different  AT&T paid employees tell me I qualify for a trade in phone for 0 dollars and these 2 say I do not... Omar by the way said I was sent 3 text messages telling me I did not qualify.... AAAAAhh What? ma'am you received 3 text messages from a computer... that told you you did not care about their pd employees to honor their best sale tactic, or promotion? IS  this blackmail for a 37 year long relationship of AT&T customer to be betrayed bc they have a grandfather in plan? to pay higher for unlimited plan? only after being deceived by 3 AT&T employees???? I do not believe those 3 AT&T employees were aware of the deception of their AT&T employer ... I think it is disgraceful of AT&T to not honor their living, breathing employees that assured their 37 year loyal customer to pay 1 dime for a trade in.... and now tell me that their hands are tied ... and I owe them $1207..... I was told , bc I asked that i would like a call back from Amanda s supervisor within 48-72 hours... Will I though:???  I have lost all faith in what a non computer living AT&T  customer service promises... Please ADVISE , If you are able

I don't know how you could have missed the other information which would have been sent to you by email.

1.  $35 activation fee

2.  Sales tax charged up front per your state tax laws. Unless you live in one of the few states that has no sales tax, you definitely would have been informed about the sales tax

3.   Whatever information you received about getting your new phone would have included the installment agreement.  And trade info.

4.  You had 30 days from the date of activating your new phone to get your old phone either back to the store or you made your purchase, which would have been the best option, or in the mail to La Verne Tennessee.   Don't know where 7 came from.

If you didn't receive trade-in packaging, it's probably because you never qualified for the trade-in because you didn't change your plan to unlimited.

5.  Credits against your installment start an approximately 90 days if qualified

All of the phone deals, dating back to 2016 when they introduced unlimited data again, *every single one* required you to have a minimum unlimited data plan in order to participate in any phone deal

It's the same for Verizon and T-Mobile..

Every phone deal  advertised online has stated this specifically in its information front and center in every single ad

If you did not have a qualifying plan, you still would have been eligible for book value on the old phone.  Which probably was only a couple hundred dollars.
